FROM THE RECTOR
I had multiple occasions over the last few days to list off all of the activities sponsored by the church this week. Each time, at least a little bit of laughter bubbled up in me and among the crowd I was talking to. This week has been and continues to be absolutely crammed with good holy work. We have begun our Tuesday night book study, had a joyous Men's Monthly Meal on Wednesday night, celebrated our first (in some time) regular mid-week Eucharist at 11:30 on Thursday, which was followed by a robust Lectio at Lunch session at noon, and prayed quietly at Sit and Wait in the chapel on Thursday night. The week will continue with the Oktoberfest fundraiser on Saturday night before we start a new week with worship Sunday morning. It's been a full week and the thing is, most of these events are not one-offs, but will continue on a weekly or monthly basis. This was an exceptionally full week in the life of a busy church.

We have good reason to be active. Our hearts, our neighborhood, and our world need a church that is hard at work in deepening our faith and proclaiming the good news of God in Christ. But this level of activity calls for a warning, too. We have planned a program year for the church we think we are called to become. And so, the thing to watch through all these events (prayer and learning and laughing and eating and serving) is whether we together are being transformed. Are we through this work, these prayers, and these parties drawing ever closer to what God calls us to be? Because if not, then no matter how great our events may be, we're finally spinning our wheels, finally just doing busy-ness for the sake of something that isn't the gospel. The good news is that our transformation is really the work of God, not first our own effort. When we bring ourselves fully, God will always meet our full selves there. So please, join us for all this activity, but not for the sake of the activity itself. Join us so that we together can be transformed more deeply into the true selves we are called to be.

Saint Patrick's Room - Children's Ministry Center
ALL children inherently know God, but it is up to us to give them the language of the Christian faith so they can grow to make meaning of our faith in their own lives. Godly Play is a profound method rooted in Montessori principles that forms child spirituality by attending to their natural gifts for wonder and discovery. We cannot wait to welcome your children each Sunday!

Spark Activate Faith
Middle School (grades 5-8)

Sunday Forum
Sundays 9:30 AM, Berlin Room
Join us as we continue our fall formation series on 1 Corinthians. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians shows Paul trying to pastor a young, gifted, divided church from afar. Drawing on some of the leading commentators on Paul, we’ll read together to see how he addressed problems and promise in Corinth, and how this might apply to us today. If you’re both talented and imperfect, or belong to a community that is talented and imperfect, this bible study is for you.

Mid-Week Eucharist in the Chapel
Thursdays, 11:30 AM
A mid-week Eucharist in the Chapel begins at 11:30 am. Lunch in the Berlin Room follows at 12 noon with a weekly Bible study (more information below.) Join us as your schedule allows: Come for Eucharist and lunch, lunch and Bible study, or stay for all three. (So that we may honor mid-day schedules, lunch is scheduled for 15 minutes and will continue through the Bible study conversations.)
Lectio at Lunch
Thursdays, 12 Noon, The Berlin Room
Join us for lunch and a Bible study – we've made it easy!

This small group format beings with lunch. As we continue sharing a meal, three biblical lessons are read by aloud by members of the group, followed by a reflection from Brian McLaren’s We Make the Road by Walking. We conclude our time together engaging with the reflection. Much of the work of the Holy Spirit in formation is in forming relationship. As the title suggests we make the road by walking together. We invite you to join this small group as your schedule allows.

You may bring your own lunch or share in the meal provided. This week’s menu: Italian pasta salad with fresh mozzarella, salami, and sun-dried tomatoes; bread sticks; tea and water; tiramisu cookies. A lunch RSVP is required by midnight Tuesday: online or by email to Kitty Gordon, and donations are requested to cover the cost of lunch each week.

Sit and Wait
Sit and Wait
Thursdays, 7-8 PM, Chapel
“O tarry and await the Lord’s pleasure; be strong and he shall comfort your heart; wait patiently on the Lord.”
Psalm 27:18

This is an open group with no limit on the number of participants. Please email Suzanne Pursley-Crotteau or contact by phone at (706) 910-9331 for further information and/or to enroll in the sit.
