Head of School Announcement
Dear Members of the Trinity Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are excited to announce the appointment of Kate Benson to become the next Head of Trinity School effective July 1, 2024. Trinity School’s mission is to “cultivate academic excellence in an environment where each child is known, valued and has their unique voice. The legacy of a Trinity education is a curious mind and a discerning heart.” Kate is the right leader to help Trinity deliver on that mission.

Kate brings 20+ years of educational experience to Trinity School as an educational leader, teacher, and curriculum specialist, including four years as the lead 4th grade teacher at Trinity from 2006-2010, and the last 6 years as Primary School Principal at the Vilnius International School in Lithuania. Kate is a strategic leader, an innovator, a doer, and an expert in both academic programs and collaboration with faculty. She effortlessly builds deep connections with students and families and demonstrates a combination of warmth, confidence and communication skills to engage and inspire our broader community.

As our search for a new Head of School got underway earlier this year, the Search Committee — comprised of trustees, parents, administrators, and teachers — first sought comprehensive input from our entire community. As a community, you shared the qualities that you hoped to see in a new Head of School: a community builder who connects authentically with Trinity students and their families; an academic leader committed to excellence; a talent developer who will recruit, hire and retain top-notch faculty and staff; a strategic leader who can ensure the continued strength of the school for the long term, and a leader who will build on Trinity’s welcoming culture of inclusion and respect. After a global search, intensive rounds of reviewing candidate materials, interviews, reference checking, and on-campus visits, Kate demonstrated deep strengths in the qualities highlighted by the Trinity community.

During the next year, Kate will meet regularly with Matt and the Board to prepare for her transition in July of 2024. There will be a note directly from Kate shortly, and we expect that Kate will have opportunities to visit Trinity next year as part of the transition plan.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Search Committee, we want to thank the entire Trinity community for investing so much of their time in meeting candidates, representing the values of Trinity, sharing feedback and perspectives, and ultimately, helping Trinity School choose the right leader to ensure a bright future for our school.

Please join us in welcoming Kate to Trinity School!

Sincerely,
