Family Voices Focus Group Flyer
FOCUS GROUP $125 STIPEND

For some families, finding a diagnosis for their child is a long journey. They consult multiple specialist, their child undergoes many diagnostic tests, they incur high medical bills, and still don't have answers .

What would it mean to have a program specifically designed to match families with world class multidisciplinary clinical teams to
  • Provide a comprehensive consultation
  • Help obtain a diagnosis, and
  • Even if unable to find a diagnosis, develop an improved plan of care

Family Voices is convening a focus group to understand how families would like to learn about a program like this.

  • The focus group will be virtual, in English, and will last 75 minutes
  • Participants will receive a $125 stipend in recognition of their time
  • The information learned during the focus group will be shared with an anonymous funder - Your name will not be shared or reported.

To be eligible to participate, you must be a parent/caregiver:
  • Of a child younger than 18 years of age with a high degree of medical complexity who has an undiagnosed condition
  • Who has consulted multiple specialists and/or health systems to help diagnose and manage their child's health

The Focus Group will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 3 to 4:15 ET PM; 2 to 3:15 PM CT; 2 to 3:15 PM MT; 1 to 2:15 PM PT; 10 to 11:15 AM HT.

Work of Art - Boise
We recently finished our all-remote Work of Art session in Boise and shared this from it:

"Thank you Scott for joining IPUL's Work of Art Boise teaching team along with Amy Nack and Heather Bee. The students are having a blast!" - Heather Kirk

So, I've been teaching an art class lately for IPUL, Idaho Parents Unlimited. It's been actually really fun and puts me in a good mood for the rest of that day! The kids are great!! We have been concentrating on taking vegetables or fruits and making them into fun cartoons. Here are the ones I have done so far.
Survey on COVID-19 Stress and Autism
We know you're all receiving a lot of surveys, but your feedback is so needed. Please check this out:

Greetings Friends and Colleagues, researchers at the Center on Disabilities and Human Development have been working on a project to identify stress levels and specific stress-producing factors in parents or caregivers who have children of any age with autism living in their home.

We are specifically looking at stress-producing factors during the COVID -19 pandemic. To that end, we have created a survey. We are asking that you either complete the survey yourself as a family member, and/or that you share this email with other families/professionals who you may serve or know. The questionnaire includes a total of 26 items with 2 related questions for each item and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

The first page is a Consent Letter. Once you submit your consent to participate, the survey will be displayed. The arrow at the bottom right of the screen will advance you to the next page of the survey. All responses are anonymous. If you would like to receive a report once we have summarized the results- we would be happy to share. My contact information is below. Please forward this email to anyone living in Idaho that may be interested in completing or distributing the survey. Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you for your consideration, Julie
