May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
This past year presented so many different challenges and obstacles that tested our strength and resiliency. The global pandemic forced us to cope with situations we never even imagined, and a lot of us struggled with our mental health as a result. The good news is that there are tools and resources available that can support the well-being of individuals and communities. Now, more than ever, we need to combat the stigma surrounding mental health concerns.

Linked here and above you can find a toolkit from Mental Health America. Consider reviewing the toolkit for yourselves or for your use at your agency.
Additionally, Jerry Strausbaugh, Executive Director of Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, will be presenting a FREE training on Positive Mental Health Self Care during Mental Health Awareness Month on May 26, 2021 from 12-1pm over Zoom. Zoom links will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event. FREE and open to the community.

1 Free CEU available for Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage & Family Therapists.

Thanks!

Our Website Enhancements
You may have noticed that there have been some slight (and very exciting) enhancements to our website, such as:
  • A new Training & Events Calendar(!!!)
  • Ability to use Google Translate to translate materials (we will continue to improve the accuracy of this feature as well)
  • Accessibility settings, such as ADHD Friendly and Visually Impaired modes (person icon at bottom-left of screen)
  • More easily accessible information on our home page that highlights recent resources and data
  • Overall more flexibility and capabilities with the backend of the site. We are very excited at what these enhancements mean for providing you with training, technical assistance, and resources.

We are grateful to continue improving the usability of our website, through an anti-oppression framework.

One other change is that the Member Portal* now requires you to enter a username. All current OAESV members were emailed the new password on April 15th. If you have trouble accessing, please reach out to [email protected]. If you are part of a member organization that is up-to-date on their dues, you may share the login information with staff and volunteers at your organization.

Please also note that this password will change in May, and the new password will only be sent to those who are current on their 2021 membership dues. Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you haven't renewed yet.

*This is referring to the Member Portal section of our website (www.oaesv.org/members), not Coalition Manager (oaesv.coalitionmanager.org), which is a more robust platform where many of our online trainings and resources are housed. For Coalition Manager, all members (including individual staff and volunteers at organizations), have their own unique login information. Your Coalition Manager login is not the same as your Member Portal (oaesv.org/Members) login (but we are working toward this alignment).
