The School District of Palm Beach County

Once Again Earns Full Accreditation

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (Aug. 16, 2023) – The School District of Palm Beach County is proud to announce another six years of accreditation. This accreditation is earned from a non-partisan agency that visits school districts around the world to review learning conditions, policies, leadership, resources, and cultural context. The accreditation is a validation of the District’s commitment to providing a quality education to our students. It demonstrates a dedication to continuous improvement that meets worldwide standards to help fulfill the District’s mission to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system.

The accrediting agency, Cognia, is a non-profit, non-partisan, international organization that conducts systems reviews of pre-K through grade 12 schools and school systems. Their primary role is to help educators and their communities share innovative approaches to improve learning, teaching, and leading. The four-month audit-style Engagement Review for Accreditation Renewal is a rigorous review system, determining how well the parts work together to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Cognia’s accreditation ensures systems have researched-based policies which address learning conditions and cultural context that enables them to receive scholarship funding for state and federal grants, as well as programs.

The accreditation report from Cognia highlighted several noteworthy practices, including the District’s five-year Strategic Plan promoting continuous improvement processes and professional development programs supporting equity-based learning.
