Christ Covenant is now on Spotify!
We will be using Spotify to make a playlist of some of the songs we will be singing during Sunday worship. This is a great way for all of us - young and old - to be able to learn songs we sing together in worship. You can find this week's playlist by clicking here. You'll need a Spotify account to log in if you do not have one. Spotify is a resource to play and share music on various digital devices, and we hope you'll enjoy this added feature.
We will be learning a new song on Sunday morning called "My Worth Is Not In What I Own" by Keith & Kristyn Getty. You can listen to it by clicking here or on our Spotify channel.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Rom 12:15

Giving Thanks for Pastor Bernie Lawrence
If you were to see a photo history of Christ Covenant Church from its very earliest days to today, it wouldn’t take long for you to see a common thread, the Lawrences. Bernie and Pat met each other at Christ Covenant. They fell in love, married, and built a family that embraced hospitality as their shared ministry. The Lawrences hosted decades worth of small groups and Bible Studies, countless meals, strangers, and friends – and friends of friends.

Their love for others always included our church family. So, it was no surprise when Bernie left a career in business to join the staff of our growing congregation. As important as his administrative and management skills were, God had put Bernie in the center of church life because he had the gifts Christ Covenant Church would need often.

Bernie’s godly wisdom and his confidence in God’s Word as an unfailing source of guidance for all of life have been used by God to resolve differences, protect against ruinous actions, and heal relationships. He has represented our Presbytery as a mentor for pastors and elders and has provided wise counsel.

As our Senior Associate Pastor, Bernie has been tireless in assuring we care well for the spiritual needs of our church family. It is not an exaggeration to say that almost every person in our congregation has a personal story of a time in their lives when Bernie was with them to pray or share exactly the right Scripture for the challenge they faced. Beyond what he has done personally, Bernie has taught by example, encouraging his fellow pastors and scores of interns and seminarians to embrace their roles as shepherds with a willingness to lovingly care for each person in their care. He has prepared our elders and deacons to work with our pastors in the shepherding communities. He has seen us grow in our desire to love one another well. He knows our history and our commitment to stand on truth and walk by grace. Most of all, he knows that God loves His children and will care for this congregation in the future just as He has in the past.

Because this is true, we can share Bernie and Pat Lawrence’s joy today as they embrace a new season of ministry with time for extended visits with their children and their grandchildren.
We hope everyone will join us to celebrate Bernie and Pat Lawrence during the evening worship service. A reception will be held in the Community Life Center (CLC) immediately following the evening worship service.
Giving Thanks for Lisa Burkhart
On Sunday morning, we will honor Lisa Burkhart, who in addition to being a member at Christ Covenant, has also been our Lead Receptionist for the last 20 years.

Members and guests alike have benefited from Lisa’s service to our church. If you have picked up a bulletin or Courier, Lisa meticulously proofread each several times before printing hundreds and sometimes thousands of copies for a Sunday. If you have ever called the church office with a question, you’ve likely spoken with Lisa over the phone. Also, it is not uncommon for strangers to stop by the church office asking for prayer. Lisa has done each of these tasks and more. Our staff and our church have been greatly blessed by Lisa’s service. While we will miss her as the Lead Receptionist, Lisa and her husband Jack are entering retirement together with many adventures ahead of them including travel to visit with family that live all across the United States.
Envision Capital Campaign
It’s not too late to turn in your pledge card for the Envision Capital Campaign! You can pick up either a booklet or a brochure and a pledge card to learn more about the many upgrades and changes we hope to accomplish through Envision! Both the booklet and the brochure have pledge cards that can be filled out and submitted. Pledge cards can be turned in at the offering boxes located inside the sanctuary at the main, south, north and main balcony exits. You can also make a pledge online at christcovenant.org/envision. We currently have 49% of families participating and $740,914 pledges toward our goal of $1,500,000.
Ways to pray for Envision
We invite you to join us in praying for our upcoming Envision Capital Campaign. Here are specific ways you can join us in prayer:
  1. The Project – That we would be grateful to our God with what He gifts to us for Envision (I Corinthians 4:7).
  2. The Church – That we would be built up together as a body and that we would reach unity in the faith (Ephesians 4:12&13).
  3. The Mission – That we would see Envision as a means to help us in the Great Commission as we invite others to Christ and into life within our church family (Matthew 28:18-20).
Summer Online Sunday School
We gain encouragement and worthy models of faith when we look to those who have followed Christ before us. In June and July we get to hear from our pastors about the lives of various Christian men and women and what we can learn from them today. This week Pastor Nathan George brings us an online Sunday School about Katherine Winkworth. You can find this Sunday School class on our YouTube, Vimeo , Facebook or christcovenant.org/christian-biographies/.
Come Meet the Petrou Family,
Our Supported Workers from Athens, Greece
Sunday, July 11
You are invited to join the Missions Department in meeting and hearing from our supported church planters, Erik and Hara Petrou, from Athens, Greece, who will be here in Charlotte. We will have a dessert gathering after the evening worship on Sunday, July 11, in the Community Life Center 1 & 2 (CLC). All are welcome to attend. No RSVP needed.
Volunteers Needed in Children’s Ministry
We are excited to reopen all children’s programs this fall beginning August 29. We are looking for volunteers to teach Sunday School to elementary students, to do crafts and tell Bible stories to preschoolers, and to hold and love on our very littlest and youngest. It takes over 70 volunteers every Sunday to staff all of our children’s programs. We hope you are ready to join us in loving and serving some of our youngest in the church.

To volunteer email Amy Wallace awallace@christcovenant.org or stop by and find Amy at the Children’s Ministry Welcome Center in the North Lobby. She looks forward to helping you find a wonderful place to serve!

Remember your Name Tag on Sundays
Name tags help us all to learn faces & names. Also, if a guest needs help or directions, they are more likely to ask someone wearing a name tag.

We hope you’ll remember to wear your name tags on Sundays! If you have lost yours, come to the information desk in the main lobby to request a new one. We are happy to help!
