MAYOR'S MESSAGE

From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

I begin this week’s newsletter message by congratulating our new Police Chief and Director of Public Safety, Anthony Garreffi Jr, who I had the honor of administering the oath of office to on September 1. I have every confidence in Chief Garreffi, and he has assured me that he will do all he can to be the best Chief of Police Sea Isle City has ever had. Congratulations to our new Chief!

I hope everyone enjoyed the summer of 2022 and that your Labor Day weekend was a happy one! It was a great summer in Sea Isle City – for both weather and events – and I hope you were able to relish every moment.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

From The Members of City Council...

There has not been a City Council meeting since the most recent E-Newsletter, so there is not any new Council business to report at this time. However, as a follow-up to earlier conversations we have had regarding shark fishing on Sea Isle’s beaches, we are happy to report that the City’s Administration has informed us that they will be meeting with members of the fishing and surfing communities this fall – and we are all certain that this situation can be resolved.

On another topic, the asbestos removal process will start in the weeks ahead at the public school building, following City Council’s approval of Resolution 159 on August 23. Once the asbestos has been removed, we will go out to bid for the demolition of the school building, prior to beginning the construction of our future Community Center on that site.

We hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend – and we also hope to see you at our next City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 13, at 10:00 AM on the third floor of City Hall.

Best regards from the members of City Council,

Council President Mary Tighe (mtighe@seaislecitynj.us)
