IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
|
|
Beloved congregation, I am writing with a heavy heart to tell you that I will be resigning from UUCUC on January 3rd, at the end of my time of medical leave. Although there have been some improvements with my rheumatoid arthritis and its complications since my medical leave began in September, my health has not yet stabilized, and I continue to experience levels of fatigue that make ministry an impossibility, for now. I remain determined and hopeful that I am on a path toward remission, but it’s clear that healing needs to be my full-time job for a while. Continue reading...

We have created a Kudoboard space for the congregation to leave messages of support and love for Rev. Florence. The Kudoboard will be delivered to Rev. Florence on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. If you have a moment, please wish her well!

From Sally Babbitt: The poinsettia in the sanctuary today is to honor Holt's and my marriage on December 9, 1967.
From Jim Hannum: Sandy and I were married on Christmas eve 49 years ago! What a joy to be married to this woman!
From Kyle Kroha: My friend Dr. Terry L. von Thaden's son Liam was the victim of random gun violence one Sunday afternoon on Prospect Avenue (on 10-24-21) with a shot to the head, resulting in paralysis & uncontrollable constant severe pain EVER SINCE. He has just been transferred to Chicago for rehab, but his path has had NO smooth spots so far. And the pain has been unrelenting. I am heartbroken for him & his family. May we please uplift him & his family with fiercest energies, prayers, good thoughts, however you so wish to invoke energies - to ask for pain mitigation/ elimination & peace for whatever outcomes are ahead. Please share with others inclined to send helpful
From Peggy Patton: We are beyond joyful at being in our sanctuary today for our 1st in person service after nearly 22 months. Seeing our minister & RE&E staff in person & hearing the beautiful music of our accompanist & choir director in our lovely sanctuary raised our spirits! Thank you to all who helped make the return to in person services a
possibility. We especially appreciate the attention to the safety & health of all present.
From Andy Robinson: I share of a minister neighbor going through a tough mental health crisis. Our thoughts go out to help those who help us selflessly.
From Marilyn Ryan: Concern for my sister-in-law Karen, who received a serious cancer diagnosis this week.

RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS
During the month of November 2021, MAIA Impact School was selected to be the shared offering. The UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $1,992.50 that month!
Guatemala is a country with one of the worst gender equity gaps in the Americas. No where is this more apparent than with young indigenous girls, who are essentially an after thought in society. MAIA’s Impact School, located in Solola, Guatemala, is one of a kind in Central America.
Through a program of rigorous academics, mentorship, socio-emotional support and family engagement, MAIA focuses on maximizing the potential of indigenous girls, nourishing and connecting their talents with 21st century opportunities. Supporting the MAIA Impact School helps address the systemic causes of mass immigration and unleashes the untapped leadership potential of young Guatemalan women. Empowered women, with the knowledge and resources to live choice-filled lives, can lead their families and communities out of poverty
