Health Update 11
Dear Akiba-Schechter Community,

We learned this weekend that the parents of one of our 7th/8th Graders tested positive for Covid-19. So far, their symptoms are mild, and we know you join us in praying for their full recovery. Our student was last at school on Thursday, January 7. The student is asymptomatic and will be home until it is safe to return to school, as per our protocol.

Our Health Committee has reviewed the details of this situation, and we feel that at this time there is no reason for heightened concern about transmission within the our school. We will continue to update you as needed.

Throughout this school year, we have assumed that any one of us could be an asymptomatic COVID carrier on any given day, and the protocols we have in place are there to keep our entire school community safe. Your adherence to our Social Covenant in your private lives, and our students and staff compliance with our protocols while at school, have kept us safe for over four months. As the virus continues to surge around us, and the vaccines make their way into arms, we are most grateful to each one of you for remaining vigilant and careful.

As always, if you have medical questions, please contact your doctor. Of course, Akiba-Schechter respects the medical and privacy rights of our families and staff, and we will not share any more information than is ethical, legal, and otherwise appropriate. If you would like to discuss our protocols, please feel free to contact one of us or another member of our Health Committee.

Thank you for joining us in wishing the parents refuah shleimah, a full recovery, and the rest of the family a peaceful quarantine.

Sincerely,

Miriam Kass, Principal
