New Faces in the WI State Legislature

Dear WH&LA Members,

With the dust still settling on the Federal level from Tuesday’s election, we are happy to share with you the new faces that we'll be working with in the Wisconsin State Legislature:

  • 10th Senate District - Republican Rep. Rob Stafsholt, who has served for two terms in the State Assembly, won this race by defeating Sen. Patty Schachtner (D). The 10th Senate District includes Hudson, River Falls, Menomonie, St. Croix Falls, Balsam Lake, Siren and Webster. Map

  • 12th Senate District – Republican Rep. Mary Felzkowski, who has served for four terms in the State Assembly, won this open seat previously held by Congressman Tom Tiffany (R). The 12th Senate District includes Antigo, Merrill, Rhinelander, Minocqua, Three Lakes and Crandon. Map

  • 14th Senate District – Republican Rep. Joan Ballweg, who has served for eight terms in the State Assembly, will represent this district currently held by Sen. Luther Olsen (R). The 14th Senate District includes Wisconsin Dells, Green Lake, Waupaca, Ripon, Poynette and Lodi. Map

  • 16th Senate District Democratic Rep. Melissa Sargent, who has served in the State Assembly for four terms, will represent this district currently held by Sen. Mark Miller (D). The 16th Senate District includes Cottage Grove, McFarland, Monona, Stoughton, Sun Prairie, and parts of Fitchburg and the North/East/South sides of Madison. Map

  • 26th Senate District – Democrat Kelda Helen Roys, an attorney and former State Representative, will represent this district currently held by Sen. Fred Risser (D). The 26th Senate District includes Shorewood Hills, part of Middleton and parts of the North/West/Downtown Madison. Map

  • 28th Senate District – Republican Julian Bradley, who works for an insurance company, will represent this district currently held by Sen. Dave Craig (R). The 28th Senate District includes Big Bend, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Muskego and Waterford, and parts of Franklin, Milwaukee, New Berlin and Waukesha. Map

  • 30th Senate District - Republican Eric Wimberger, an attorney and veteran, will represent this district currently held by retiring State Senator, Dave Hansen (D). The seat includes Bellevue, Suamico, Marinette, Oconto, Peshtigo, and parts of De Pere, Green Bay and Howard. Map

  • 32nd Senate District - At this time, it appears Democrat Brad Pfaff, former Secretary-Designee of the Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade & Consumer Protection, will represent this district previously held by former Sen. Jen Shilling (D). (There could be a recount.) The 32nd Senate District includes La Crosse, Onalaska, Prairie du Chien, West Salem and Viroqua. Map

  • 8th Assembly District – Democrat Sylvia Ortiz-Velez, a Milwaukee County Board Supervisor and former small business owner, will represent this district in Milwaukee. The seat is currently held by Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa (D), who did not seek re-election. Map

  • 11th Assembly District – Democrat Dora Drake, who works for a local non-profit that assists individuals re-entering society, will represent the district, which includes part of Milwaukee and Glendale. The seat is currently held by Rep. Jason Fields (D), who did not seek re-election.  Map

  • 13th Assembly District – Democrat Sara Rodriguez, who is a registered nurse and healthcare consultant, defeated Rep. Rob Hutton (R). This district includes parts of Brookfield, Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and West Allis. Map

  • 17th Assembly District – Democrat Supreme Moore Omokunde, a Milwaukee County Board Supervisor and son of Congresswoman Gwen Moore, will represent this district in the City of Milwaukee. The seat was previously held by Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley (D). Map

  • 23rd Assembly District – Democrat Deb Andraca, who is a teacher and community volunteer, defeated Rep. Jim Ott (R). The district includes Fox Point, Grafton, Thiensville and Whitefish Bay, and parts of Bayside and Mequon. Map

  • 29th Assembly District – Republican Clint Moses, a chiropractor, will represent the district which includes Hammond, Menomonie, New Richmond and Star Prairie. The seat is currently held by Senator-Elect Rob Stafsholt (R). Map

  • 35th Assembly District – Republican Calvin Callahan, a small business manager and Lincoln County Board Supervisor, will represent the district which includes Antigo, Birnamwood, Merrill and Tomahawk. The seat is currently held by Senator-Elect Mary Felzkowski (R). Map

  • 41st Assembly District – Republican Alex Dallman, a staffer for Congressman Glenn Grothman, will represent the district which includes Adams, Green Lake, Princeton, Ripon and Wisconsin Dells. The seat is currently held by Senator-Elect Joan Ballweg (R). Map

  • 44th Assembly District – Democrat Sue Conley, a retired nonprofit consultant and President of the Janesville City Council, will represent the district which includes most of Janesville. The seat is currently held by Rep. Deb Kolste (D), who did not seek re-election. Map

  • 48th Assembly District – Democrat Samba Baldeh, an insurance company IT Project Manager and President of the Madison Common Council, will represent the district that includes parts of the North, East and South sides of Madison. The seat is currently held by Senator-Elect Melissa Sargent (D). Map

  • 55th Assembly District – Republican Rachael Cabral-Guevara, a family nurse practitioner and lecturer at UW-Oshkosh, will represent the district which includes Neenah, and parts of Appleton, Grand Chute and Menasha. The seat is currently held by Rep. Mike Rohrkaste (R), who did not seek re-election. Map

  • 57th Assembly District – Democrat Lee Snodgrass, who is the Director of Communications for a local non-profit, will represent the district which includes parts of Appleton, Grand Chute and Menasha. The seat is currently held by Rep. Amanda Stuck (D), who did not seek re-election. Map

  • 69th Assembly District - Republican Donna Rozar, who is a registered nurse and a Wood County Board Supervisor, will represent the district which includes Abbotsford, Colby, Marshfield and Neillsville. The seat is currently held by Rep. Bob Kulp (R), who is retiring. Map

  • 75th Assembly District – Republican David Armstrong, who is the Executive Director of the Barron County Economic Development Corporation, will represent the district which includes, Birchwood, Chetek, Clear Lake, Cumberland and Rice Lake. Armstrong previously served two terms on the Rice Lake City Council and served on the Rice Lake Tourism Commission for five years The seat is currently held by Rep. Romaine Quinn (R), who did not seek re-election. Map

  • 76th Assembly District – Democrat Francesca Hong, who is a restaurant owner and community activist, will represent the district which includes the downtown and campus area of Madison. The seat was previously held by Rep. Chris Taylor (D), who resigned upon her appointment to the Dane County Circuit Court. Map

  • 90th Assembly District - Democrat Kristina Shelton, Program Director at the YWCA Greater Green Bay and member of the Green Bay School Board, will represent the district which includes part of the City of Green Bay. She defeated Rep. Staush Gruszynski (D), in the August primary. Map

We’ll be working to meet with many of these leaders as they move into their new positions, as it is important to make sure that they understand the issues facing the state’s lodging industry.
