ATS welcomes new staff member to support diversity efforts
The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) is pleased to announce Alyson Barra as program assistant for diversities. Her hire comes at a time when ATS is beginning work on its new Increasing Diversity Capacities among ATS Schools Initiative, which focuses on helping schools to better serve increasingly diverse students and communities of faith. Pathways grant leads to first event for partnering schools aiming to grow Hispanic/Latiné Catholic leaders
Representatives from 18 Catholic theological schools across the United States gathered April 30 through May 3, 2023, at Boston College for the first partners’ organizational meeting of Haciendo Caminos: Theological Education for New Generations of US Latino/a Catholics. This endeavor is the result of a Phase 3 grant awarded by Lilly Endowment Inc., as part of its Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, to support a partnership between the University of Notre Dame and Boston College in growing the next generation of Hispanic Catholic pastoral leaders in the United States. Chaplaincy Innovation Lab explores demand-focused spiritual care
The Chaplaincy Innovation Lab, with support from Templeton Religion Trust, has been engaged for several years in research about both supply and demand in spiritual care. Most recently, the Lab has been analyzing what it would mean and require to build an approach to spiritual care based on demand. Read more. Listen to more.
Registration now open for CBTE 2023 gathering, scholarship funding available
Registration is open for CBExchange (the world's foremost conference on competency-based education) and CBTE 2023 (the annual gathering on competency-based theological education) to be held October 3–6, 2023, at the Omni Amelia Island Resort in Florida. Anyone who would like to learn more about competency-based education (CBE) and CBTE is invited to attend. The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) is, once again, offering scholarship funding to participants from ATS member schools. Read more. Listen to more.
Louisville Institute announces 2024 grant and fellowship applications
The Louisville Institute is accepting applications for its 2024 grant and fellowship funding season. The institute funds grants and fellowships for those who lead and study North American religious institutions, practices, and movements. Grantees and fellows include pastoral leaders, researchers, early career and seasoned scholars, and many others in the United States and Canada whose work resonates with the Louisville Institute’s mission to bridge Church and academy.

Christian Theological Seminary
Christian Theological Seminary recently announced it would be forming two distinct schools: the School of Theology and the School of Counseling. This restructuring is allowing the seminary to educate and form counseling clinicians in addition to pastors, chaplains, educators, and community leaders. Read more.

ATS Programs and Services offers educational events and resources to assist member schools with best practices, development of peer networks, production of research, and exploration of data. The Commission on Accrediting of ATS accredits the schools and approves the degree programs.
