Volume 12 No 3 | Apr-May 2023

Charles Dickens created some of the most memorable characters in literature - who can forget Sidney Carton ("it is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done"), Miss Havisham ("break their hearts and have no mercy") or even Scrooge himself ("I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year"). Here are some of the unforgettable characters found in The Christmas Bride in Concert (Snowlion Rep's upcoming Christmas in July celebration), and the wildly talented cast who will portray them!

The Christmas Bride in Concert

features delightful Dickensian characters

Emily Bartley as MARION JEDDLER, a country girl engaged to her father's ward, who has her own ideas about how to live her life, until a stranger falls (literally) at her feet.

Aaron Engebreth as MICHAEL WARDEN, a handsome man of wealth who has gambled away most of his fortune, and falls into Marion's life in a most undignified way.

Mary Johnston Letellier as GRACE JEDDLER, Marion's sister, beloved by all, who secretly loves the man engaged to her sister.

Joel Crowley as ALFRED HEATHFIELD, Marion's clueless fiancé who does not realize whom he truly loves until almost too late.

Alan McLucas as DR. JEDDLER, a gentleman farmer and hearty soul who finds the doings of his family and friends 'ridiculous' until faced with the seriousness that The Battle of Life can bring.

Kelly Caufield as CLEMENCY NEWCOME, the comforting Jeddler family housekeeper who wants to be married more than anything.

Chris Newcomb as BENJAMIN BRITAIN, the acerbic Jeddler manservant, a confirmed bachelor who is at a loss to understand the 'vapors' of womankind.

Pat Scully as the twin brothers THOMAS and SIMON CRAGGS – one a kind though silent law partner, the other a vengeful police chief devoted to bringing down his nemesis, Michael Warden.

David Arthur Bachrach as loquacious lawyer JONATHAN SNITCHEY, partner to Craggs, as well as rougish turnkey of the debtor's prison, MALKEY.

Betsey deGroff as SARAH SNITCHEY, patient wife to Jonathan, as well as mischievous shopgirl CLARA.

Teresa Dyer as JULIA CRAGGS, imperious wife to Thomas, as well as wicked shopgirl GRETCHEN.

Acting Classes are Back!

Snowlion Rep's comprehensive acting curriculum - FIVE different aspects of the actor's training that present in rotation - is commencing once more, starting with ACTION AND OBJECTIVE: The Heart of Acting Technique,

an in-depth look at two of the most important elements of the

actors work in creating a role to play.

Teacher Al D’Andrea and his students will use a variety of games, exercises, improvisations, and scene work to explore "what the character wants" (objective) and "what the character does to get what s/he wants" (action). Many influences on Action and Objective will be explored, including given circumstances, location, character, emotion, and justification. Much of the work will be based on Al's studies with stage legend Stella Adler.

The workshop is ideal for experienced actors who seek to master their understanding and use of these central elements of stagecraft. Beginning actors will receive a strong foundation in these critical elements of performance, often not emphasized in traditional acting classes. The class is open to all ages 16 and above.
