Sending Hope and Empowerment to Ohio Children's Home
|
|
It is heartbreaking to hear when someone is struggling and in need. When the "someone" is a child, it often tugs the heartstrings even more. Reaching out to "the least of these" is truly what Midwest Mission Distribution Center is all about. "This is why we do what we do. This is why we partner with difference makers, near and far," said Midwest Mission's Executive Director, Chantel Corrie, "to ensure we can help others in practical ways during their times of crisis."
On March 17, Midwest Mission responded to a request from the Christian Children's Home of Ohio. "We are a residential center for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect," said Donor Relations Manager, David Walker. "We have new children arriving on our campus on a regular basis. They often come with little clothing and no personal care items. We also have a school on campus and need school supplies. Our children have all experienced neglect and abuse and many are suffering from trauma."
It isn't always how big the shipment, but how big the impact of what is sent. Midwest Mission fulfilled the school's request, sending 50 UMCOR hygiene kits and 48 UMCOR school kits to assist with the most immediate needs. We appreciate those who helped prepare and/or verify these kits.

St. Mark's UMC in Mt. Caramel, IN held a food pack on Sunday, March 13.
"Mission Collection Coordinator, Stephanie Cohen, did a fantastic job organizing the event." said Board Member Pat Baumer. "There were several very young volunteers learning about what it means to serve others.
"All the volunteers worked hard and finished 2400 rice meal bags during the two hours the food pack took place.
Thanks to St. Mark's for being God's servants for those in need."
