June 21-July 5th

Library Closed July 5th
In observance of the 4th of July holiday, the Tipp City Public Library will be closed on Monday July 5th. We hope all of our patrons enjoy their holiday weekend.
What's New at the Tipp City Library?
The library was the recipient of two different grants from the Tipp City Foundation during the past year and these pictures show how the two grants have come together to help our community partner with Tipp City Exempted Village Schools. One of the grants we received from the Tipp Foundation allowed us to get more materials for reluctant readers, which we are lending to the Summer Academy students. We also received a grant allowing us to purchase the book bike which we are using to bring the library out to the community. We are very grateful to the Tipp City Foundation for their support to meet the needs of our community.
Celebrate Audio Book Month with Hoopla
June is audio book month and what better way to celebrate than by streaming your favorite titles via the Hoopla digital app. Browse a collection of preselected options or you can search for specific titles. In honor of audio book month, Hoopla has launched some new updates to their app that make listening to audio books on the go even easier.

Car & Activity Mode is a simplified interface with fewer controls and larger buttons for when you’re on the go.

Chapter/Book Timer gives users a simple toggle to switch between viewing the time remaining in either the current chapter or the entire book.

Playback Speed options have been increased to up to four times normal playback speed.

Bookmark Notes can now be added to any audio book bookmark, perfect for book clubs or educational listening.

Sleep Timer has more options, including an End of Chapter option. Read more and watch the tutorial about these feature enhancements.

Downtown Tipp City Family Game Night
On July 2nd, the Downtown Tipp City Partnership is hosting a family game night. Stop by the library where we will have an animal themed obstacle course set up in front of the building. The course will be available for your enjoyment through the whole holiday weekend.

Welcome Our New Teen Librarian
Join us in welcoming our new teen librarian, Grace. We are so excited to see what she brings to the teen department. We asked Grace a few questions so our patrons could get to know her a little better. Check out our interview below and don't forget to stop by and say hello during your next library visit.

Tell us a little about you: Where are you from? Tell us about your family
I grew up in Illinois and went to the university of Illinois where I got my undergrad and masters in library sciences. I also have a sister, a three year old dog named Max who we rescued from a shelter, and fiance Brendan.

What about this position are you most looking forward to?
Meeting the teens, I've gotten to meet a few so far and i'm excited to get to know what they want for programming and for the book selection.

What made you want to be a librarian?
I've always been a big reader, I came from a family of book worms. I’m also a huge people person, I wanted a job that is public facing, that forces you to be creative and is never the same day to day.

What are you hoping to bring to the role?
A lot of energy, you need that in the teen department. As well as thinking outside of the box and not being afraid to try new things.

Who is your favorite author?
Victoria Schwab also known as V.E. Schwab. That’s right now though, It’s always changing.

What are your 3 desert island books:
The Invisible life of Addie LaRue by Victoria Schwab, The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern, and The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur

Fiction or nonfiction:
Fiction

Favorite thing about the Tipp City community?
I'm most excited to get to know the community better, Lisa [library director] took me on a walk downtown this morning, and I got a cup of coffee at Grounds For Pleasure. I'm excited for my mom to come have a cup with me when she visits.

What’s exciting in YA right now? Any trends/authors/series you think the community should know about?
The most exciting thing that’s happening right now in YA is seeing much more diverse characters who are more representative of the teens who are reading about them.

Digital or hard copy books?
Hardcopy. Digital if I have to, like if I got access to an advanced copy of a book.
