Kavvanah of the Week
This year we are exploring kavvanot - short orientations or intentions that reflect the part of ourselves that we bring to a particular moment.

Kavvanot can be used for moments and actions of any size and significance.

This week’s kavvanah is based on three different translations of the Hebrew word ‘modeh’ or ‘modah.’  The same root gives us ‘hodu’ - which happens to be the Hebrew word for turkey!
Kavvanah for Thanksgiving

As I rise this day
may I be aware
of life, of breath,
of my five senses
of the promise of the hours
that open before me.

As I travel through this day
may I acknowledge
the interconnectedness of things
may my heart recognize
that nothing exists alone
that there is a greater whole.

As I end this day
may I give thanks
for what held me
for what fed me
for what sheltered me
and for what keeps me safe.

May this be so.
Amen.
