Police Guild and City Approve Contract
A 5-year contract with the Spokane Police Guild was approved by the Spokane City Council. The contract meets the dual needs of the community to show support for its police officers and gain greater clarity on civilian oversight.
Green Bin Collection is Back!
The City of Spokane has resumed curbside yard and food waste pickup. The optional service runs from March through November. Customers may not have a lot of yard waste right now, but they can use the green carts to dispose of food scraps and food-soiled paper. Yard waste that can be placed in the carts includes grass, leaves, pine needles, pine cones, weeds, vines, thatch, plant trimmings, and small branches.
Change to Recycling Schedule Coming in May
Starting the first week of May, residential customers will see a change in curbside pickup of recyclables. That’s when the City of Spokane’s Solid Waste Collections Department will switch to every other week collection of recycling. This change will manage escalating costs for the recycling program without charging customers more.
Municipal Court Closure Coming Up
The City of Spokane’s Municipal Court will be closed Thursday, March 4 and Friday, March 5 to accommodate an update to the case management software. The closure will include most court hearings and the public counters at the Court Clerk’s Office. Spokane Municipal Court will continue to process DUI, and domestic violence first appearances during the closure period in addition to all in custody initial appearances.

Fiber Construction in Your Neighborhood
TDS Metrocom has begun construction on an all-fiber, fiber-to-the home cable television and high-speed internet system within the City of Spokane. The TDS system will allow for additional competition for these services in our City, resulting in choice and improved price for customers. Residents are beginning to see work in their neighborhoods as part of this construction project. The construction has been permitted for the public right of way and the additional utility easement that exists in front of many homes in the City.
