Live Oak Public Libraries announces that Lola Shelton-Council has been named as Interim Executive Director of Live Oak Public Libraries (LOPL), effective January 10, 2022.
Shelton-Council most recently served as Director of Library Experiences at LOPL and has been in the role since July 2021. She has worked in various capacities in libraries for more than 25 years. Prior to her arrival at Live Oak Public Libraries, she was Director of Trails Regional Library in Missouri. Shelton-Council holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Rutgers University.
The appointment of Shelton-Council follows the retirement of David Singleton, who served as Library Executive Director since July 2019. Shelton-Council will serve while a Search Committee of the Regional Library Board of Trustees is in the process of selecting a candidate for the Executive Director position.
