Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that he has filed an enforcement action against a for-profit educational provider for deceptive marketing and lending practices.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced he filed suit against several tax preparation companies "for illegally sharing the sensitive data of Missouri taxpayers” with multiple technology companies.
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced he filed an amicus brief in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals "in support of affirming the District Court’s ruling pertaining to the Pueblos’ sovereignty and federal jurisdiction."
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced a judgement against an unlicensed contractor, where the judge has awarded $101,762.98 in restitution to six victims.
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced a settlement with a major retailer "over the company’s failure to ensure the price customers paid for its products matched the price listed on the shelf."
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella announced a case investigated and prosecuted by his Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau resulted in a home contractor pleading guilty and being sentenced for theft from a consumer.
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced the State’s June 2023 total gaming revenue results.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the sentencing of an individual for 20 years after being found "guilty of 17 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Third Degree."
Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced "the successful prosecution of a criminal organization involved in the distribution of large amounts of fentanyl, which led to multiple overdoses throughout Maryland and surrounding areas."
Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown filed an amicus brief on Monday, July 17, 2023, supporting Anne Arundel County’s suicide prevention measures in the case of Maryland Shall Issue, Inc., et al v. Anne Arundel County, Maryland, currently before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Hawai’i Attorney General Anne Lopez announced that the Hawaiʻi Department of Education “prevailed in a lawsuit in which the plaintiff had sought $1 million in damages relating to the installation of fire alarm systems at eight public schools.”
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry issued a consumer alert warning Bucks County residents of home repair or improvement scams in the wake of catastrophic flooding.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that his office’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit "has obtained four new convictions in Fulton and DeKalb counties."
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced his office’s state Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is hosting a human trafficking training conference this week in Pierre. The training is the first ever of its kind hosted by the Attorney General’s Office and DCI.
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen launched a new statewide public service announcement to educate Montanans on how to combat human trafficking.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced that his Human Trafficking Commission has launched a directory of Ohio-based services and resources for victims of human trafficking.
DATA PRIVACY
California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced he sent inquiry letters to "large California employers requesting information on the companies’ compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) with respect to the personal information of employees and job applicants."
ORGANIZED RETAIL CRIME
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced his office is “joining the Organized Retail Crime Alliance (ORCA), a multi-state effort with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), law enforcement, prosecutors and private sector partners from Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama (LAMA) to combat organized retail crime conducted by domestic and transnational criminal organizations.”
BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT
Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador led a nine-state comment letter regarding the Bureau of Land Managment’s proposed rule called "Conservation and Landscape Health."

The New Mexico Attorney General's Office announced a "Rapid Hire Event" on August 4-5, 2023.
