Community Service Award winners: Leadership with humility

This year at the Jewish Federation of Ottawa's Annual General Meeting, Federation will be honouring three women for their exemplary volunteer commitment to our community. In speaking with the award winners, there is one word that applied to each of them and that is “humble.” Each believes that she is joining a group of great people and were touched to be counted among them.

“It isn’t easy to commemorate someone as impactful as JB. He positively influenced our JCC and community for over 32 years. Through naming the gym in JB’s honour, it allows all of us and future generations to recognize how important he was,” says SJCC President/COO Barry Sohn.
Thanks to the generosity of community members, on Sunday, June 11, the Soloway JCC will officially unveil the Jonathan Braun Athletics Centre.

On May 16, close to 200 people met to talk about all things Israel at the Second Annual Canadian Summit on Israeli-Jewish Affairs, sponsored by the Embassy of Israel in Canada, Israel Bonds, and the Jewish National Fund. The theme was “Towards the Next 75 Years” and addressed issues from the geo-political situation to campus antisemitism. Federation advocacy specialists share the key messages from the summit.
