Permanent Fund

The RRCC Permanent Fund Task Force, consisting of Lisa Breeding, Gary Collier, Darlia Hunt, Irene Jenkins, Dan Knight, Perry Mouser, Tricia Mouser and Kent Toomey (Linda Glover and Pastor Mitch Ex-Officio) was appointed to “revive” the church Permanent Fund and update the Permanent Fund Operating Policy and Procedure (OPP) in January, 2020. During the months of February and March the Task Force submitted an updated OPP which was approved by the Guiding Board, and conducted several meetings and telephone conference calls with Bobby Hawley (Christian Church Foundation) to schedule his visit to the church in April 2020....until Covid hit!! We are now, finally, moving forward with Bobby’s visit to RRCC and it is scheduled January 23, 2022 during both the Sunday School hour and Worship. Pastor Mitch has invited Rev. Hawley to fill the pulpit that Sunday and there will be newsletter articles in the coming weeks to provide additional information and invite everyone to attend. The following is a brief biography to introduce Rev. Bobby Hawley:

REV. BOBBY HAWLEY

Vice President

Christian Church Foundation

The Reverend Bobby Hawley is the vice president of the South Central Zone of the Christian Church Foundation. The Christian Church Foundation is a general ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) devoted to helping individuals be good stewards of their accumulated assets through planned giving and permanent funds. His responsibilities include working with members, congregations, regions and other entities of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Great River, Oklahoma and Southwest Regions.

Bobby joined the Foundation in November 1998 as assistant vice president in the South Central Zone, having earned his bachelor’s degree in social work from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, his master of divinity from TCU’s Brite Divinity School, and his doctor of ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Austin, Texas.

He is married and his wife, Diane, is on the faculty of Harris School of Nursing at Texas Christian University. They have three children – Alicia, Kelsey and Noah.

Bobby has a pastor’s heart and is wholly committed to his ministry to help individuals and families take full advantage of the planned giving instruments that are available in order to bring maximum benefit to themselves, their heirs and the church they love.

The Foundation’s general offices are in Indianapolis, Indiana; Hawley works out of an office in Fort Worth, Texas.

Thank you so much, gentlemen! What a great gift! Check out the before and after photos, below.

Elders Prayer/Closing Message

Give Jesus First Place in Your Areas of Worry

Anytime you worry, it reveals a particular area of your life where you have not given God first place. Any area of your life where God is not in control is going to be a source of insecurity and worry.

Welcome Jesus into your house. Give him access to the living room, the bedroom, the kitchen, and all the closets in your life. He already knows what’s in there. In fact, God knows your needs better than you do. You’ve got needs you don’t even know you’ve got. Whenever you bring a need to God, he’s not going to be surprised. He won’t say, “Whoa, I never saw that one coming!”

“Your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to” (Matthew 6:32-33 ).

When you make Jesus Christ number one in every area of your life, it simplifies your priorities and gives you a lot less to worry about.

“Dear Father, I admit that I often forget that you are with me. I often forget what you’re like. Would you please forgive me for that? I need to get to know you better. I need to get to know your Word and your promises better. Help me to put you first in every area of my life. Help me to live one day at a time. Help me to not worry about tomorrow but instead focus on what you’re doing in my life right now. I want to trust in your promise to take care of every one of my needs — financial, relational, physical, social, spiritual, and emotional. Help me to trust you more and worry less. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
