We are so blessed and excited to be a part of the Central Gulf Coast District! Our family is settling in our new home in Prattville, Alabama. We have had the privilege these last several weeks in attending General Assembly and preaching and worshipping at multiple churches on our district. We’ve attended a Zone Mission Rally, Youth Camp, Children’s Camp, and much more. We have fallen in love already with the Central Gulf Coast District. Thank you so much for your prayers and the warm welcome that we have felt. We are so happy to be home on the Central Gulf Coast.

CHURCHES IN TRANSITION
Please continue to pray for our open churches: Ridgeville, New Providence, and Mobile Parkview. We trust that God has the right pastor for each of these great churches.
Lots of work is already under way in preparation for Team Day. This is going to be a great time of vision, discipleship, worship, and fellowship. You do not want to miss it! Be sure to register. I can’t wait to see you all on August 12.

On June 25, 2023, I installed Rev. Brian Ortmann as the new lead pastor at Port St. Joe Church of the Nazarene. The church celebrated this new relationship with their pastor, and we know that great days are ahead for them.
We also want to welcome Revs. James and Laura Kramer at Praise Park to our district along with their beautiful children, Bella, JoJo, and Dave. One of Dr. Berry’s last assignments was installing them at Praise Park on June 4, 2023. We are excited about all that God will do through them in the days ahead.

Children's Camp 2023 Highlights
Children's Camp Report
Children's Camp 2023 was GREAT with 116 in attendance. Our speakers were Pastors Steve and Janet Raeburn, and their daughter Kathryn of Big Blast Ministries. The theme, Starship Nova, taught the kids about fighting the seven deadly sins and helped them to memorize scripture throughout the week.
We saw Spirit-filled services, where many children made decisions to follow Christ, rededicate their lives to Him, and surrender their lives fully to Him. We had lots of fun times playing games, swimming, kayaking, paddle boats, zip-lining and carpet-ball. We also had a quizzing demonstration, an upcoming NYI meeting, and an NMI lesson. We are thankful for how God moved at children’s camp.
A big thank you to all the churches who sent kids to camp and to the wonderful counselors who served.

Children's Bible Quizzing: Thirty-six boys and girls participated in a sample quiz at Children's Camp under the direction of Rev. Bill Hamby. They were excited about the opportunity to quiz!
Please make sure that you support these boys and girls and have someone attend the Children's Bible Quizzing Workshop at Team Day!

Connect with our LINKS Missionaries
Your Links missionaries are Collin and Shireen Elliott currently serving 44 countries as Engagement and Equipment Facilitators on the Africa Region. They have been on Global Deployment for 23 years for the Church of the Nazarene. It is recommended that each church connect with them at least three times a year through email or cards. They will be assigned to our district through Care and Connection until December 31, 2023. If you have not let them know how much you appreciate their service to Kingdom work, please do so.
Some important dates coming up are:
October 21 - Collin’s birthday
December 28 - Their wedding anniversary
March 15 - Shireen’s birthday
Please do your best to honor these precious people of God.

Global NYI Convention 2023
Pastor Susan Sawyer, CGC NYI DP; Pastor Angela Stephens, Ministerial Delegate (CGC NYI VP); and Ms. Harley Wilson, Youth Delegate attended Global NYI Convention June 9 - 12, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana on behalf of the Central Gulf Coast NYI. They were able to participate in business meetings, including voting responsibilities for Global NYI leadership and attend NYI's 100th Anniversary celebration. NYI was established in September 1923, and this year marks 100 years of ministry to and with young people throughout the Church of the Nazarene.

Central Gulf Coast NYI had 37 teens and adults attending Nazarene Youth Conference 2023 (NYC) in Tampa, Florida from July 4 - 11, 2023. Our group was able to enjoy the beautiful Florida beaches and spend a day having fun at a local theme park but it was the NYC worship services, messages, late night concerts and the MWO (Ministry With Others) that had the greatest impact and provided life changing experiences. Not only were there moments of where God did a great work in the teens and adults lives but relationships with each other were forged and strengthened. We want to thank all who supported and aided our group in being able to attend this event.
CGC NYI had a great time at teen camp! It was held at Camp Baldwin in Elberta, AL from July 17 -21, 2023. Pastor Seth Lenderman was our speaker and Refuge from Trevecca led worship. Highlights from the week included the worship services, messages, OWA Theme Park, Trevecca's SMT group led games, Lip Sync Battle and Thrift Store Fashion Show. It was a week full of growth both in friendships and in their relationship with God. The Holy Spirit was present at each of the services and seeing God work through these amazing teenagers was a highlight of my summer!
