Dear Parents,

BE PREPARED TO BE AMAZED NEXT WEEK at our Muffins with Mom event. Our young artists have been creating works of art on real canvases that will be a keepsake you will treasure for years to come. Thank you to my amazing staff who have been working tirelessly on these projects for weeks. You will feel their love when you see them! Please be sure to note the day for your child's class and arrive between 7:45 and 8:45 as the event will end at 9:00.

The event taking place:

May 9 for Green, Red, and Yellow Door

May 10 Blue, Rainbow, and Orange Door

May 11 Brown, Purple, Silver, Gold

KUDDOS to our Blue Door Families for the incredible spread at this week's Teacher Appreciation Lunch. Looks like this month and next will be one where our staff will need to schedule in more exercise as they are being loved and fed so well by our parents. The luncheon on May 11th will be sponsored by our Rainbow Families. The sign up sheet is up on the white board.

As we prepare to finish our school year, I always get questions from families about the appropriateness of Year End Gifts for the teachers who spend 8 or more hours each day loving, teaching, and nurturing your child. Many years back a parent approached me with a fabulous idea....Just like you tip restaurant workers for wonderful service, why not tip teachers who spend much more time with your child at the end of the school year, and give them the opportunity to buy something they love. It was then we started the year end teacher gift collection.

Here is how it works...Each child will be given a little envelope. You can put as much in as you wish, the suggested donation is $10 per teacher in the room, but if you wish to do more it is up to you. The envelope will tell you how many teachers are in the room. You simply return the envelope to the office. You can also write in the envelope to BILL BRIGHTWHEEL and we can bill your account and put cash in the envelope for you.

When the collection is done, 90% of monies collected go to the teacher. The remaining 10% go to our support staff which includes the office, Maria in the Kitchen, and Jackie our soccer coach and head of security. The money does NOT go to our three high school girls in the afternoon. I take care of them...Especially since they are all graduating high school this year.

This collection is voluntary. We find that most our families participate, some still wish to purchase gifts for the teacher. The collections are given to staff on the last day of school with a card telling the staff who donated to the year end gift. Be on the lookout next week for the envelopes. We will collect them through the end of May.
