IAGB Hosts Successful India Day 2016 at the Hatch Shell
On August 14, 2016, the Hatch Shell was once again the venue for IAGB's India Day celebration. We thank the community, our sponsors and vendors for their support of the event.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito sent a letter with their best wishes for the occasion. The Guest of Honor was Ashraf M. Dahod, president and chief executive officer of Altiostar. The renowned tech entrepreneur lauded IAGB's role in preserving and promoting Indian culture in the US.
Hundreds of performers presented a four-hour long program of music and dance with the theme of "Fusion." The colorful program was interspersed with brief interludes for:
- Presenting Community Youth Excellence Awards to Abhijeet Sambangi and Ayush Upneja
- Recognizing the services of Dr. Anil Saigal, IAGB's immediate past president; and longtime IAGB volunteer Jatinder Sharma, who designed the cover of the IAGB program book for many years
- Silent auction of two Qatar Airways tickets
- Visiting food stalls selling an array of Indian delicacies
- Stopping by at vendors exhibiting their wares and services
- Introducing IAGB's Executive Committee members
It was a fun afternoon on a hot and sunny day on the Boston waterfront.
