Community Connectivity Committee Holds First Meeting Regarding the SW 87th Avenue Bridge
A committee created by District 8 County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, held its first meeting this past Thursday. The Community Connectivity Committee is composed of 8 members; 4 Palmetto Bay residents and 4 Cutler Bay residents, appointed by the Mayors of each municipality. The Committee was formed by Commissioner Cohen Higgins to engage in meaningful discussion concerning the construction of a bridge at SW 87th Avenue over the C-100 canal.

The Board of County Commissioners recently approved legislation sponsored by Commissioner Cohen Higgins, which urges the County Mayor to take action on the bridge project and allocates resources to ensure its implementation. Both cities are on the opposite side of the argument with the overwhelming majority of Palmetto Bay residents opposing the bridge and Cutler Bay favoring the project.
