STEWARDSHIP
THANK YOU! Thank you for honoring your 2020 pledge. Thank you for continuing to mail in checks, scheduling your pledge payments online or texting to give. Thank you for paying off your pledge early to avoid cash-flow contraction. Thank you for paying more of your pledge in the first half of the year than in years prior. Thank you for making additional contributions to CSMSG above and beyond your pledge. Thank you for generously contributing to the Pat Johnson (Patricia Mary Johnson) Assistance Fund. Thank you for EVERY SINGLE penny that has been deposited into the Church’s bank account so we can continue to care and serve each other. Thank you for your Stewardship. Our Stewardship is one part of our response to Jesus’ proclamation that God’s kingdom is near.

Would you like an easy, secure and quick way to support CSMSG? Introducing text to give on your mobile device! If you know how to send a text message, you can make a gift. Click here for a few quick steps. Thanks for your generosity as we continue to serve and care for each other.

It is clear that many parishioners may be facing financial challenges. Please be aware of the availability of the Pat Johnson Assistance Fund. (Some of you may have known her as Patricia Mary). This emergency fund was set up to assist parishioners who need financial support in times of need. So, if you are facing financial hardships and would benefit from monetary support, please reach out to a priest with your request and rest assured your request will remain confidential. CSMSG is here for you. Do not hesitate to seek the help you need. We are blessed to have this opportunity due to the generosity of Pat Johnson.

For those members who would like to provide financial assistance to those in need, please know you are welcome to make a contribution to the Pat Johnson Assistance Fund. Please click on the “Give Now” button below and follow the prompts to make a donation. The Pat Johnson Assistance is the second fund listed in the drop-down box. Or if you choose to mail in a check to the Church, please write “Pat Johnson Assistance Fund” in the memo line. We are also happy to facilitate any contributions to your pledge or any other purpose to which you want to contribute. Please do not hesitate to reach out Alexis Posnansky at aposnanski@csmsg.org if you have any questions.
FROM THE CHOIR ROOM
As my fellow choir members can attest, the separation from the choir and parish has been difficult these past few months. Being a member of the CSMSG choir has brought a sense of musical creativity to my life that perfectly balances my analytical work during the week. As a lifelong lover of music, the choir has offered me a unique opportunity to collaborate and learn from an inspiring group of talented musicians.

In the absence of our weekly rehearsals and services, Dr. Lehman and John McDonald are dedicatedly working to prepare the “virtual hymns”, which air in the weekly online services. Each hymn takes several hours to prepare, from creating practice tracks to compiling individual voice recordings. As a singer, I no longer have the benefit of looking to Rob for cutoffs and other cues, nor the benefit of listening to my fellow choir members to match voice placement, tone, or vowel color. These hymns, which once took only a few minutes on Sunday mornings to rehearse, are now a significant focus of my musical attention.

While incredibly grateful for the ability to continue to make music virtually with CSMSG during this time, I find myself missing what I once took for granted – our choir, in person, making music. In talking with friends and family, I know everyone is experiencing this same unexpected sense of loss, whether it’s the inability to get together for family observances and traditions, participate in a highly anticipated graduation ceremony, or see loved ones in care facilities. I take comfort in knowing that once we are able to gather again - once we can sing together - I will rejoice and give thanks with renewed meaning.

Michelle Gurrola Burks
SATURDAY YOGA CLASS
Saturdays at 12:00 PM
Parishioner Michelle Gurrola Burks teaches a free, 55-minute class via Zoom at noon.

Michelle has attended the 8 AM service at CSMSG for 18 years. She and her husband Jack were married at the church 3 1/2 years ago. She has taught yoga for 20 years and can be found at IMAYOGAGIRL on Instagram where she leads yoga challenges. Michelle is a Lululemon ambassador.

Yoga has many health benefits including decreasing stress, relieving anxiety, improving sleep quality and more. A yoga mat is helpful, but not necessary. A non-slippery spot and bare feet will work fine, too.

If you are a new participant, email laurie@csmsg.org for the Zoom invitation. For those of you who joined us last Saturday, the Zoom information remains the same.
ISOLATION MEMORY BOX
The pandemic has turned out to be a defining moment for CSMSG, and once the dust begins to settle the church will have a key role to play as the shock of the disease and isolation wears off and parishioners begin to process their experiences. Bringing those two pieces together, we would like to start collecting "journal moments" (for lack of a better term) from the congregation to compile as a time capsule of sorts for future generations. Perhaps a photo and/or 200(?) words from each family to capture a specific memory/experience -- loneliness, homeschooling, empty shelves, exercise routines, etc.
The idea behind soliciting moments from parishioners is to reflect the day to day realities of individuals and families in isolation, and to provide another way to bring the congregation together by using these challenging times to inform future generations.
Please submit your "journal moments" to Beth Panke Nguyen at bethpanke7@gmail.com . If you have a question please contact Laurie Brown at Laurie@csmsg.org .
