Please indicate the number in your party and the names of all the people in your party. Jennifer will provide an email confirmation and the time to check in for your seat assignments.

'Blessed Are the Peacemakers' Family Sunday School
On Sunday we learned what a peacemaker is and how to be one. It isn’t as hard as it sounds, and you can be a peacemaker from a young age. There are many places our children can be peacemakers in their own lives. If you missed the lesson you can watch it here. This Sunday, March 7 we will explore how those who are persecuted can be blessed. This one seems like a headscratcher, but we will look at how others have done this too!

United Methodist Women
Calling All Pie Lovers!
North’s United Methodist Women have partnered with Hoosier company Wick’s Pies to bring you delicious bakery-made pies for your Easter dinner or anytime dessert. Maybe you would like to send a pie to family members because you still are not getting together to eat, but you want them to know you are thinking about them. Maybe you would like to thank a neighbor for shoveling your walk. Maybe you just would like to enjoy the pie yourself!
Seven varieties of already baked and frozen, tantalizing pies are available for just $9 each (or $10 each if delivered). The mouth-watering flavors are:
- sugar cream (Indiana's state pie and Wick’s bestseller);
- pecan;
- peanut butter;
- German chocolate;
- pumpkin;
- pumpkin spice, and
- coconut cream.
All are 9-inch pies except for coconut cream, which is 10 inches wide.
To order pies to help the North UMW raise funds for its various missions to help women and children, please email Carol Tiller-Luchtman. If you prefer to phone her or text your order, please contact the church office for her phone number.
When you place an order, please include the number and name of each type of pie desired, your name and address, your cell phone or home phone number, and indicate if you will pick up your pie(s) at the church on Good Friday or if you prefer home delivery to Marion and the surrounding counties.
The deadline to order is this coming Monday, March 8 for a Thursday, April 1 or Friday, April 2 pick-up or delivery.
Payment is requested upon placing an order, which can be handled by cash, check or credit card:
- Cash or check payable to "North UMW" or "North United Methodist Women" given to any UMW member or mailed to Nancy Wever, 2834 Sunmeadow Way, Indianapolis, IN 46228-3181.

In Memoriam
Rev. Hamilton Will Be Remembered Fondly
Rev. Dr. Richard “Dick” Hamilton passed away on Monday, Feb. 22. Dick was the senior minister of North from 1974 until his retirement in 1997. As an elder in the South Indiana Annual Conference, he served as a delegate to five General Conferences. While at North he led the church in expanding our outreach into the community, deepened our witness for social justice, increased our attendance, and renovated our facilities with the addition of the west entrance and chapel. He will be remembered fondly by many members:
“He was a beloved pastor, an extraordinary teacher, and a force behind many changes that moved North Church forward.” — Sue Hirschman
“Dick was a gentleman and a gentle man. His words inspired and challenged, but his best lessons came to me by the way he lived life. I will always remember his humility, humor, compassion and sense of justice. He lived these virtues each day.” — Patty Hefner
“In 1987 we saw Rev. Hamilton on a Sunday morning TV show, and decided we wanted to hear him preach in person. After one sermon we knew that North Church should be our church home, and we’re so thankful to have known Dick as our pastor and friend for all these years.” — Kathy and Ron Gifford
“True simplicity and joy in my life demands harmony between my medical career and my search for meaning. And when I do experience that harmony, I must pause and celebrate the life and ministry of Dick Hamilton, who showed me the way for almost 50 years.” — Joe Mamlin
“Dick married us in 1977, baptized and confirmed both of our children, and participated in our daughter’s wedding in 2015. He was an incomparable minister, scholar, mentor, and friend.” — Greg and Rosie Jordan
“Dick had a wonderful, spontaneous sense of humor. Once we had a big blizzard on the Saturday after Christmas, and very few people showed up for church on Sunday. The hymn before the sermon was ‘Gentle Mary Laid Her Child.’ Dick stepped forward to preach and said, ‘I hope you noticed the name of the hymn tune that we just sang, ‘Tempus Adest Floridum.’ My Latin is a bit rusty, but I think that means ‘It’s time to go to Florida!’” — Rev. Bob Schilling
The complete obituary is at this link. To help ensure safety during the pandemic, a memorial service will be held at North later this year. For more sharing about Dick’s life and ministry, sign up to receive Northnet.
