Dear Lyons Township High School Class of 2026 Parents/Guardians,
I hope this communication finds your family having had a wonderful winter break and a positive start to 2022. The purpose of this communication is to provide a brief update on transition events/important dates for the LT Class of 2026 families.
Given the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present and the significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases across our country, state and within the LTHS school community, we are canceling Future Freshman Night. Specifically, concerns associated with large events/gatherings and the large number of students/families, as well as LT students/staff who would be on site during this event present safety issues and challenges with respect to moving forward with this large scale event. While we know this is not ideal for incoming students/families, our priority is to keep all students, their families and our staff safe and healthy. Rest assured, we will be making modifications to our Class of 2026 transition events in order to provide Class of 2026 students/families with the information they need in order to prepare for course registration for the 2022-2023 school year, as well generate excitement about the LT Experience.
During the Class of 2026 Registration WebEx on January 26, members of the LT Leadership Team will provide a welcome and discuss the course registration process. We will share information regarding the Academic Program Guide, elective course selection, and course registration. During the WebEx, will also discuss details regarding ways students/families can learn more about elective course offerings virtually. We will share links to videos/resources highlighting elective courses on our Class of 2026 website for students/families to review as they make decisions about course selection.
Our Leadership Team is currently working on plans for a spring activities/athletics night so Class of 2026 students/families have the opportunity to learn more about the more than 100 clubs and activities, 32 athletic programs, and robust intramural program LT has to offer. We will share more information with students/families as it becomes available.
As we have shared previously, I am including the following important dates/events for Class of 2026 families:
Class of 2026 Registration - WebEx - January 26
Members of the LT Leadership Team will discuss the course registration process. We will share information regarding the Academic Program Guide, elective course selection, and course registration.
Placement Letter & Google Form for Elective Selection - January 27
Families will receive an email with your child’s placement letter and link to a Google Form that will be used to make elective course selections. The placement letter will detail the student’s academic level placement for English, Math and Science Classes. The letter will also include information regarding the process for completing a level change and information about making elective selections.
Private/Parochial School Night At South Campus - February 1 & 2
Students who currently attend private/parochial schools and anticipate attending LT will need to come to LT to meet with counselors in order to register for courses for the 2022-2023 school year. Students can choose which night to attend and appointments are not necessary.
Middle School Counselor Visits - Early February
LT counselors will visit each of our public associate schools to meet with students, discuss course requests, and confirm/enter academic course selections. Dates and times will be shared with students/families in January.
Final Day for Course Selection Changes - February 18
The window for requests for level changes and elective course changes for incoming freshmen will close on February 18. The next window for level change requests for freshmen will take place the first four weeks of the fall semester.
We look forward to our partnership over the next several months in preparation for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
Sincerely,
Jen Tyrrell
Principal
