CEO MESSAGE
Happy New Year and all best wishes for a healthy and productive 2022 to all our members!

This year has kicked off to a great start, with appreciation for Canada’s life sciences and recognition for three Life Sciences BC members. I am very happy to note that LSBC board member, Pieter Cullis has been appointed as an Officer in the Order of Canada. Connie Eaves, a previous Don Rix Lifetime Achievement Award winner from 2018, has also been appointed as an Officer, and Peter Zandstra is now a Member. Congratulations to all three and also to rest of the 135 nominations announced.

You can find out more about Peter Zandstra’s work here and listen to Connie Eaves in conversation here. And I would be remiss to leave out Pieter Cullis’s stunning debut on TiKTok from last year.

BioLinks will return in full next week, but meanwhile please don’t forget to register for our first event of the year next Tuesday, January 11. The Gairdner Webinar, Gut Peptides Drive Therapeutic Innovation features Daniel Drucker, winner of the Canada Gairdner International Award. Dr. Drucker will be talking about how gut peptides such as glucagon-like peptide-1 are driving therapeutic innovation for metabolic disease beyond diabetes, and may also offer hope for conditions such as Alzheimers.
