Sewer Pump Problems
Did you know the majority of sewer pump issues at the campground are caused by things you may be flushing down the toilet or pouring down your drain?

Disposable wipes, paper towels, diapers, feminine hygiene products, and even grease cause sewer pump failure.

Why?
All of the paper products listed above including those marked as “flushable wipes”,
do not disintegrate like RV toilet paper. RV toilet paper usually breaks apart within 24 hours of flushing. The disposable wipes, paper towels, diapers, and feminine hygiene products that do not disintegrate, get tangled up inside sewer pumps.

Grease that is poured down your drain causes clogs to form in our sewer lines. Clogs can take weeks to work themselves out of the lines.

The more wrong things that go down the drains and toilets, the more frequently the pumps fail, causing sewage to back up and flow onto the ground. It can also back up into trailers.

Clearing the blockage from the sewer pump isn't always possible as the pump has been damaged and burned out. Sewer pump replacement is over $4000.00. We have replaced multiple sewer pumps in the park this season-some were new pumps.

Sewage on the ground or up into trailers is disgusting and poses a health risk to campers, pets, and our staff therefore, when it occurs we must act immediately. Clean-up of the sewage, removal of the damaged pump, and replacement with the new pump takes hours and yet, prevention is completely in the hands of our campers.

Help Prevent Sewer Pump Problems
  • DO NOT flush disposable wipes, paper towels, diapers, or feminine hygiene products. Only flush RV toilet paper and human waste.
  • DO NOT pour grease down your drain-put it in a disposable container and refrigerate, when solid, throw it in the garbage.
  • Encourage your neighbors and your guests to comply with this matter.

Thank You.

Fish Lake Beach
These are actual pictures of our pumps at Fish Lake Beach. This sewer pump that is not draining due to clogs formed by wipes and other material that should not be flushed.
This Fish Lake Beach sewer pump is compacted with wipes and other material preventing the flow of liquid and human waste through our sewer systems. This clog of wipes is tightly wrapped around the prop of the pump and must be removed by hand. The extensive damage of the pump means it needs to be replaced.
