Confess and acknowledge (to your spouse) how YOU have offended one another (your spouse), and then pray for one another (your spouse) to be instantly healed, for tremendous power is released (into your marriage) through the passionate heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!

A MINUTE for your MARRIAGE:
Offense is such a powerful weapon of the devil! In particular, within Christian marriages! Offense brings with it resentment, bitterness, strife, anger, anxiety, and a whole host of other feelings and emotions that God does not want to be a part of our lives! And the reality is that most offenses are simply a result of miscommunication!
So how do we stop or prevent offense from entering our marriage? By being a selfless spouse and applying James 5:16 to our marriage! This scripture actually reveals to us what we should do if we ever think that we have done or said something that may have offended our spouse.
Here is what that looks like: we are supposed to sit down with our spouse and confess or acknowledge anything that might have been said or done that has offended them, “even if” we feel that our spouse should not be offended by what we said or did! This point is so critically important!
Often times we sense our spouse is offended, and instead of following James 5:16, we try to convince them that their feelings are unjustified and why they shouldn’t be offended or upset. Have you noticed that this nearly always makes the situation worse?
Instead, as soon as we realize that offense is trying to creep into our marriage, we need to do the ultimate selfless act of apologizing, talking to our spouse about how they perceived it, and then apologetically (not critically) praying for our spouse to be healed of their offense! Sometimes this initial prayer may need to be done alone if your spouse is too hurt or it is too soon (but eventually praying together is essential!).
The power that is released into your marriage by doing this will be felt almost immediately! Not only will your spouse become stronger to resist offense in future situations, but you yourself will become more powerful in resisting the urge to say or do things that you know is likely to offend or upset your spouse!
This type of power will have a profound impact on the devil’s future attacks on your marriage, and you will start to see offenses diminish within your marriage until they are essentially non-existent! Praise God for that!!
And like we say at the end of every one of our emails, even though it may seem very difficult at times to continuously listen to the Holy Spirit and use the gifts and wisdom that He has given us when it comes to our marriages, remember that There's A Grace For That!!
