Hello Parkside Families,
January has been a busy month so far with our winter assessments in full swing to gauge the progress of our students in math and reading. We will be looking at the assessment data to help address the needs of our students and plan accordingly for the second half of this school year.
This month we also have some teaching and staff transitions!
First, we welcome Mrs. Tracey Weaver to the Parkside office as the new principal's secretary. Mrs. Weaver is no stranger to Parkside, and we are fortunate to have her in the front office!
As many are aware, we have had a few teachers join the staff to fill in for staff on leave. Ms. Ashworth, Ms. Harner, and Mrs. Rohrer have been with us and will now be transitioning to new roles. Ms. Ashworth will be moving on to another school district and we wish her well! She has been such a great school counselor and will be missed. Ms. Harner will remain in Penn Delco in another classroom, and Mrs. Rohrer will move next door to Mrs. Miller's room for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Jones, Mrs. DeHaven, and Mrs. Eggleston will be returning to their classroom, so we welcome them back this week!
There are also a couple of fun and important events coming soon. The 100th Day of School will be celebrated this month in grades K-2. Look for information from your child's teacher about "100" themed activities! The Parkside Student Council is collecting donations for Rags2Riches Animal Rescue until February 11th. Kid's Heart Challenge begins in February to raise money for the American Heart Association and bring awareness to Heart Health. Rock Your Socks for Down Syndrome Awareness will be here before we know it in March--look for socks to be on sale soon--more information will follow closer to the event.
Finally, it is winter and is cold outside! Please make sure that you are encouraging your child to dress in layers. Students should be prepared to spend 25 minutes a day outside at recess unless the temperature falls significantly below freezing. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. Also, please refrain from sending your child to school before 8:40 am--the doors do not open until then and we do not want students waiting outside in the cold weather!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me via phone or email.
