International Student Spotlight
Geovanny Romero Jimenez
Country: Costa Rica | Third Semester, Business Analysis

Q: Describe yourself.
A: I am an adventurous teen. I am a goal-driven person and someone who knows his priorities. I enjoy making the best out of every experience and learn as much as I can from every opportunity on my way.
Q: Where are you from and what do you love/miss about it?
A: I am from Costa Rica. A tropical country in Central America. One of the things I miss the most is the warmth of Ticas; their "Pura Vida" mindset. Likewise, I do miss the beautiful and diverse landscapes and mountains.
Q: What do you love about being here, what surprised you the most about the country/customs/food/etc.?
A: lf I was to characterize my experience in the United States and at NWTC, I could define it as an experience of constant personal growth. I have learned not only academically but professionally and as a human being. Being here has provided me
with experiences that I would have not gotten in any other place.
Q: What is the biggest difference between your hometown and here?
A: The two biggest differences between the US and my country would be the weather and the lifestyle of people.
Q: What are some customs from your culture, and what do you miss the most?
A: I miss all the national celebrations.
I also miss every meal prepared for each celebration and each of the cheerful gatherings we have to commemorate important dates.
Q: What is your goal while here at NWTC and plans after graduation?
A: My goal while being here is to learn as much as possible from the education I am receiving and the overall experience.
I know this opportunity will become a tool to go one step beyond and support my professional and personal goals.

With Actor
Hisham Tawfiq
Hisham Tawfiq is probably best known for playing Dembe Zuma, very close friend to Raymond "Red" Reddington in NBC's hit series The Blacklist
Prior to pursuing a full acting career, Hisham served in the U.S. Marines, and was deployed during Operation Desert Storm.
SI: Thank you for your time this morning! How are you currently spending your time when you aren’t filming “The Blacklist”?
HT: I am spending my down time in Upstate NY in a Cabin that I purchased a few years ago. I am doing some yoga every morning which I’ve never really had the discipline to do.

SI: If you could spend quality time with one person (alive or otherwise), who would it be and why?
HT: I would love to spend quality time with my mother who passed away when I was 4 years old.

SI: What is the first thing you are going to do once things are closer to “normal”?
HT: I can’t wait to go to brunch with my friends and enjoy some blueberry pancakes!

SI: What is the most interesting or funny movie you’ve watched over the past couple of months?
HT: I’m currently watching “Tiger King” on Netflix.

SI: What would you say to anyone looking to pursue a career that involves being in the public eye?
HT: Make sure you have a good support system in place.

Thank you Hashim for sharing a little time with us. You can catch Hisham Friday nights on “The Blacklist” on NBC.
It Pays to Play!
