Bloom Senior Living Warriors Are Not Immune to Fear. They Fight In Spite Of It!
Educate Yourself About The Groundbreaking COVID-19 Vaccines So You're Ready To Join Bloom At Its Vaccination Clinics (Coming Soon)!
Bloom Senior Living, a family-owned and operated provider of seniors housing throughout the Country since 1965, announced earlier this week that its South Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Indiana and Louisiana residents and associates ("Bloom Warriors") have been included in the first priority phase for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. This is an extremely positive development, and tremendous benefit for our Bloomers since we're first in line to start putting this virus behind us!

Our Bloom Warriors have been fighting this virus for our residents over the last nine months! We now have been given a new, and highly effective, tool to limit the spread to our Bloom community and get us back to a pre-pandemic Bloom lifestyle! Therefore, Bloom is encouraging its associates and residents to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves, their family and our community!

As Bloom (and other public outlets) reported, there have been two significant vaccine developments released by Pfizer (and partner BioNTech) and Moderna showing efficacy well ahead of expectations.

On December 10, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") panel recommend the approval of Pfizer/ BioNTech’s vaccine for emergency use; clearing the way for the FDA to grant emergency authorization of the vaccine and distribute the first doses throughout the United States. “The efficacy is overwhelming” for the vaccine, said Eric Rubin, a Harvard microbiologist and panel member. “It’s very strong.” Importantly, the thumbs’ up from the FDA’s vaccine advisory committee was the culmination of an all-day meeting during which the panel heard presentations on the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, including plans to monitor its longer-term safety. Two days before the meeting, the FDA published documents confirming that the vaccine was highly effective and did not raise any major safety concerns. The FDA approved Pfizer / BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine for emergency use the next day, which marked a pivotal turning point in the once-in-a-century pandemic. This approval, and the ability to deliver a safe and effective vaccine, has been called a "medical miracle" and "one of the greatest scientific accomplishments in history."

Earlier this week, the FDA announced that Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine was "highly effective," setting the stage for an emergency authorization later this week. The agency published documents evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine in a large clinical trial. The findings will be presented to an independent advisory panel that will vote tomorrow on whether to recommend authorization. If all goes as expected, the FDA will authorize emergency use of the vaccine Friday. Analysis suggests the first dose of the vaccine can reduce asymptomatic infections. Confirmation via further analysis could mean that it not only protects individuals from disease, but also curtails person-to-person transmission of the virus. Neither COVID-19 vaccines uses the live virus that causes COVID-19.

According to the Centers for Disease Control ("CDC"), your best protection from COVID-19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 vaccine along with wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding large crowds, and washing your hands often.

Bloom hopes to provide an update shortly regarding procedures and dates for its COVID-19 vaccination clinics. As previously advised, Bloom opted-in to the CDC's vaccination distribution program with CVS in order to offer on-site vaccinations to our residents and community staff free of charge.

We hope our Bloom community will join us in getting vaccinated not only to protect ourselves physically, but to help Bloom continue to relax all restrictions and get back to our pre-pandemic Bloom way of life!
