This Weekend at St. Mike's | |
Happy Labor Day
Church Office Closed Monday
"Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen" (BCP p. 261)

Common Cup Returning
This Sunday at Both Services
As you have hopefully heard by now, this Sunday, September 3 we are reintroducing the option of drinking from the Common Cup during the Eucharist. A detailed article about this decision is in the most recent Archangel. You are encouraged to lean into whatever practice you find most comfortable - intincting (dipping), sipping, or abstaining from the wine altogether - as our doctrine affirms the simultaneous presence of Christ's body and blood in each of the Eucharistic elements.

New Service Music
View Links on Website
Have you noticed that the Gloria, Gospel Acclamation, Doxology and Sanctus change seasonally? That’s because our service music reflects the church calendar alongside the liturgy. Visit the Music webpage to hear the service music we will be using this Sunday, September 3 through the end of Pentecost.

Seeking New Participants!
St. Michael's has two Celtic Spirituality Groups that are resuming in September and looking for new participants. In each, a book is chosen to read, and the group discusses and explores the many nuances of the author’s thoughts and wisdom. Practitioners of Celtic Spirituality believe that the presence of God infuses daily life and thus transforms it, so that at any moment, any object, any work, can become a place for an encounter with God.

Young Adults Theology on Tap
September 8, 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Young Adults of Colorado Springs are invited to join in community at Goat Patch Brewing (2727 N Cascade Ave) on the second Friday of each month. The group will hear about a specific theological topic that the month's facilitator is passionate about, ask all the questions they want, and get to meet and spend time with young adults from various churches in the Springs! Facilitating this fall's first gathering on Friday, September 8 is St. Mike's very own Rev. Dr. Joanne Sanders talking about the “Nature of God." This will include breaking down traditional and limiting ways of thinking about the divine and getting into inclusive theology that can enhance appreciation and awareness of the expansiveness of God.
