When Kyle Purdy’s family left the area in 2019, Michigan CASA lost a valued board member and treasurer. So, we were thrilled when the Purdy’s moved back in 2021 and Kyle returned to help lead the organization.
While Kyle has a long history of volunteerism with such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, United Way, and his school district, it was his love for his own children that brought him to Michigan CASA. He said, “I have two daughters and I want them to grow up in an environment where they feel loved and cared for. When I learned about what Michigan CASA does, and when I heard all the stories of children going through the foster care system and the challenges they face, I knew I wanted to help those children get the support they deserve. I want them, too, to feel loved and cared for. Our CASA programs around the state do just that, and our volunteers are the stable, caring, supportive person those children need as they maneuver through the system.”
Now that he’s back on the Board of Directors, Kyle’s vision for the future is “to continue to advocate for our children, to get more funding, and to focus on the best ways and locations to deploy state funding.
“We want to develop new areas that have previously not been supported, really dive into areas with the most need, and provide the financial and technical support to serve more children, and grow awareness for this mostly unknown cause.”
Kyle holds a finance degree and MBA from GVSU, and is currently the Director of Finance for the largest Michigan-based law firm in the State. He has visited all 50 states, while his wife of 18 years and his two daughters, ages 16 and 13, have only been to 49. The family plans to remedy this with a trip to Alaska in the coming year.
Thank you for your service Kyle!
