Ready for the Smart(er) City: How Community Improvement Districts (CIDs) are Building the Future

Community Improvement Districts, or CIDs, are best known for being mechanisms commercial property owners and local governments use to beautify streetscapes or support infrastructure projects. But a new, comprehensive analysis of their use in Georgia finds CIDs have had significant impact in leveraging dollars and driving growth. The report was produced by the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Smart Cities and Inclusive Innovation program and its Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development, in partnership with Lexicon Strategies.

Apply Now for $250K in Pilot Funding
The Partnership for Inclusive Innovation is now accepting applications for pilot programs seeking funding of up to $250,000!

We’re looking for Georgia businesses, entrepreneurs and entities that want to help foster innovation, access, growth, entrepreneurship, and innovation throughout our state.

Pilot selection criteria includes:
  • Team and infrastructure
  • Innovation and impact
  • Alignment with the Partnership’s values
  • Expected return on investment
  • Time needed to make an impact
  • Sustainability

Interested applicants should apply by March 8.

The Partnership for Inclusive Innovation is a public-private partnership comprised of the state of Georgia, private entities, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Launched in 2020 to lead coordinated, statewide efforts to position Georgia as the technology capital of the East Coast, and under the leadership of Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, board chairman Dr. G.P. Bud Peterson, and Executive Director Debra Lam, the organization guides efforts and pilot programs to help foster access, growth, entrepreneurship and inclusive innovation statewide. The Partnership's ultimate goal is to achieve inclusive innovation throughout Georgia. The organization aspires to define Georgia’s entrepreneurial identity as a national leader in technology research, development, and implementation.
