NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
World Class Schools for Our Students:
In The Midst of Great UNITY
Welcome back from spring break Warriors! It is hard to believe that we have reached the last semester of the 2021-2022 school year and although it seems like winter wants to hang around a little longer these past couple days, we will be greeted by summer before we know it.

Let me first say that I am thankful for the great year we have had thus far and amazed not only by the support of our community, but the greatness we have seen in our students and staff. More and more the UNITY we have achieved this year across our district has made us grow stronger together.

Congratulations to our Norwalk High School Dance Marathon Committee of students who exceeded their fundraising goal by raising over $33,000 dollars for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital for children with cancer. Our students are amazing and we are in awe of the work they do every year to achieve goals like this to help families in need.

Congratulations to Diana Duffy, our high school nurse who was just named the 2022 Iowa School Nurse of the Year! This is an amazing honor for Diana and is a true testament to the quality care and outstanding work of our entire nursing staff.

I am reminded daily as construction continues to progress, that the UNITY of our community helped make our future Norwalk Physical Education and Competition Center possible. What was a major need for our students is now only 5-7 months away from completion.

The UNITY that surrounds us has made us stronger and I am certain it will continue to grow within us as we celebrate the last two months of school!

Yours in service,
D.T. Magee
The Norwalk School Board celebrated Diana Duffy on being selected as the 2022 Iowa School Nurse of the Year at the March 28th board meeting.

Meal Service Notification
Norwalk Families,

Our leaders in Washington D.C. have voted to not extend the Universal Free Meals for all enrolled students who participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs in the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. With that information in mind, please be sure to budget accordingly if your students will participate in the meals offered in our cafeterias. If your family has qualified for free or reduced priced meals before, please be sure to fill out a new meal
application prior to the start of the school year. The new application for the 2022-2023 school year will NOT be available until after July 1, 2022, but the Nutrition Department didn’t want parents to be surprised when meals are charged to student accounts in August.

Thank you all for your patronage. Serving your students makes our day! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Nutrition Department directly at 515-981-9876.
