April, 2022
Message From Lisa

April is a beautiful spring month. People who are born in April have a diamond as their birthstone and their birth flower is the Daisy.

April is the best month for watching meteor showers. One of which is the Lyrids meteor shower, which appears from April 16th to April 26th each year. There’s another one called the Eta Aquariids meteor shower that can be seen beginning on April 21st.

On April 15, 1912, the famous Titanic ship hit an iceberg and sunk on her first and only voyage.
Of course, one of the most well-known dates of April, is April Fools’ Day on the 1st of the month. No one is sure where this originated from, but some believe it to be inspired by Geoffrey Chaucer’s story in “Canterbury Tales” called “Nun’s Priest’s Tale.”

On April 11, 1970, Apollo 13 was launched and ran into difficulties about two days later. It was then that the famous line “Houston, we’ve had a problem here” was said, and is today usually misquoted.

April is expected to set records for severe weather in our neck of the woods. March already kicked off the severe weather months with a record number of tornadoes. If you hear a severe weather alert, please pay attention to it and seek shelter immediately.
This April the people of Ukraine are weighing heavily on my mind. They are in our thoughts and prayers as they face violent aggression by Putin’s armies.

Is it Worth Filing a Wrongful Death Lawsuit?

The time has come. It’s time to discuss whether or not you should file a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of a loved one. This is a difficult conversation to have, but we’re here to aid you with some pros and cons of filing a lawsuit like this.

Cons: Pain & Suffering
Bringing up a traumatic event can trigger a wave of emotions. Having to relive that pain is not something you want to go through, but it’s essential to know that you have time. In the state of North Carolina, the statute of limitations for a wrongful death lawsuit is two years from the date of your loved one’s death. Take some time to heal, and then reconsider your options when you’re ready.

Pros: Recovered Compensation
A benefit that makes a tremendous difference is receiving compensation to cover hospital bills, lost income, funeral expenses, and even emotional losses. This can be a way for you to provide for your family for the time being while you get yourself back on your feet.

Totally Tasteless Lawyer Joke
A millionaire informs his attorney, “I want a stipulation in my Will that my wife is to inherit everything, but only if she remarries within six months of my death.”

“Why such an odd stipulation?” asked the attorney.

“Because I want someone to be sorry I died!”
