Botanist & Barrel
Botanist & Barrel crafts real southern ciders, sours, and dry fruit wines. We are the Souths only natural cidery focused on spontaneous and wild cultures. We craft healthy adult lifestyle beverages for any occasion. We support our local farmers using local sustainably and organically sourced fruits, including blueberries, apples and more from our no spray estate farm. Only tree ripened apples are used in our ciders with a focus on traditional southern heritage cider apples.

All of our ciders and wines contain little to no residual sugar and are low calorie. As an experimental winery we have almost no rules with the exceptions being we never add additives like sulfites and we do not fine, filter or pasteurize any of our ciders or wines.

By the Brook Tempeh
By The Brook Tempeh will be at Saturday’s Farmers’ Market and is elated about spring market being back in session!

We specialize in non-soy, artisan blends of legumes, peas, lentils, and seeds to create a well-balanced and highly digestible plant protein with a fantastic texture and versatile flavor.

By The Brook Tempeh is based in Saxapahaw, created by fermentation enthusiast Taylor Westbrook. Our North Star is to contribute to a sustainable future by reciprocating our local food systems, supporting the human microbiome, and elevating accessibility through relationships. Along the way, we’d also like to normalize plant-based proteins for all diets, including meat-eaters, by offering an appealing product in its own right, not merely as an alternative.

This week we'll be stocked up with all of our signature blends, a mix of our other burgers and our notorious tempeh chorizo. Also, we'll be launching a new and very exciting tempeh product: Sage Country-Style patties! Come on out and ask us "What the heck is tempeh?" That's our favorite question!

Full Flower Herbs
We are thrilled to join the market as a full member this season! Woo hoo! Thank you for all your support! We’ll see you Saturday with our full line of tinctures and extracts.

Lately we’ve been hustling to dig and make our weedy root tinctures, yellow dock, dandelion, and burdock. We were either out or nearly out of all of them, all ingredients in Happy Liver, Clear Skin. This is a foundational and very popular medicine, so I’m thankful we are going to be able to hopefully get a new batch ready without much of a disruption, though our current batch has nettle substituted for cleavers as a diuretic alterative. These herbs stimulate and nourish our liver and generally encourage elimination, digestion, and assimilation of nutrients. While it is formulated as a skin formula (and is very effective for this purpose), alteratives are beneficial therapies when the body is struggling with any kind of chronic condition and inflammation. As my teacher and former DFM herbalist Will Endres would say, “Weeds for your needs!”

Did you know you can save money by ordering larger sizes of your favorite Full Flower Herbs formulas and simples? We can make 4 and 8 Oz sizes of any of our regular offerings. Many are available for purchase on Etsy. Use the coupon code LOCALPICKUP to remove shipping costs, and leave us a note that you want to pick up at market.

See you soon,
Lindsay Perry

         ** FARM NEWS:
Hopefully, our Ace vegetable grower and farm manager, Mario, will be returning this week from spending time with his family in Mexico.  We hope they will be able to join him on the farm in the next several months. It has been a LONG TIME waiting with filing the correct paperwork, expenses, and the following mandatory government protocols.

Also, we have great news: our wonderful market helper, Sofia, is staying in the US! Tammy, Mario, and I really enjoy her helping us at the market and the customers love her! She is so knowledgeable about local food.  We can't wait until our other Italian friend, Francesco, comes back to the US in August ... they are both helping us plan and organize the small farmer fundraiser, Dinner in the Meadow, scheduled for Sunday, September 11th.

Many of you have asked for a VISIT to our farm, so mark your calendar for Sunday, May 15th from 10:00 a.m. -- 6:00 p.m.! We will offer a walk around the farmhouse and Century old barns, describing the old commisonary and wellhouse, hen house, smoke house, Mule barn, Seed barn, and more. You will be able to drive down the road to the greenhouse and organic vegetable fields. Bring your cooler and stock up on organic ripe strawberries and asparagus along with meats. 'Brats on a bun" will be served for lunch if you like to eat lunch on the premises. We will be one stop on the "Women in Ag: Local Foods Tour" this day... so plan to visit other farms in Franklin County also on May 15th. Details coming... There is no charge to participate in the tour and visit the eight farms on the tour.

Thank you for your continued support of our Century Family Farm!

Piedmont Microgreens is an indoor farm located just four miles from the farmer's market! We specialize in microgreens, which are the youngest stage of vegetable crops. Microgreens are great because they're beautiful, tasty, and packed with nutrients. We will be bringing the following microgreens to the market: sunflower shoots, pea shoots, nutrition mix, salad mix, and, potentially, a farmer's choice. The nutrition mix is a blend of broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi microgreens, while the salad mix is a blend of sunflower shoots, buckwheat, and kale microgreens. The farmer's choice will be a revolving blend of what inspires us each week.

Happy April! Why not start it off by trying a new kimchi- broccoli rabe? It’s closer to turnip family than it is to broccoli, but don’t let that scare you. Fermenting the greens has mellowed out its characteristic bitterness, leaving a tangy, surprisingly crisp (for greens), and tasty kimchi. It’s especially good in fried rice- just sautee the kimchi in butter, add some cooked rice, eggs, some soy sauce and sesame oil- and you’ve got a very easy meal.

To get $2 off 2 or more jars — just use coupon code 2jars. You must have a minimum order of 2 jars. https://spicyhermit.square.site/

Current menu: Napa cabbage, green cabbage, green garlic, radish, collard greens, mustard greens, kohlrabi and carrot, broccoli raab (NEW!)
