Teacher/Student Soccer Game - Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed on June 20 for the Intramural Soccer Game between 3rd, 4th, 5th grade students and our fabulous teachers. Come to the Puesta del Sol Field at 2:30 pm to help with the fun. Everything wraps up at 3:30 pm. Volunteers must be background checked by BSD and check in at the office before heading out to the field.
City of Bellevue's Tree Giveaway Program

The City of Bellevue’s Environmental Stewardship team is busy getting applications ready for our third annual Tree Giveaway Program! It would be fantastic to add new families that haven’t participated in the program before to our applicant pool. In addition to homeowners, renters who have permission from their property owner or property manager are eligible to apply. Each household is eligible to receive up to two trees, watering bags, and bags of mulch for free.

Applications will be available for Bellevue residents at the end of this month and will close August 31st. More information, including the application link, will be available in the next couple of weeks on the City of Bellevue’s Tree Giveaway webpage.

The Tree Giveaway is aimed at residents and organizations to make tree planting easier and more accessible. This program encourages planting in the community and supports our city’s goal of a 40% tree canopy and 75,000 trees planted by 2050. This year we will be giving away 700 trees on October 20th and 21st.

All inquiries can be directed to Trees@bellevuewa.gov.
Thank you Puesta del Sol PTA Community

Each school year, it’s amazing what our Puesta del Sol PTA Community does. Transitioning back to a full year of in-person learning and then moving to a new school, 2022-2023 was a year like no other.
Give yourselves a BIG pat on the back for all we’ve accomplished (along with grace for things we’re still working on!).
At International Festival—paired with Art Appreciation this year—while I could joke it’s a miracle it comes together—it’s also not a miracle but an example of getting outside our comfort zone, stepping up and helping out, to then get the reward of our kids’ happy faces as they showcase what they’ve learned.
I hope you can continue to find ways to help any way you can, as we reflect on a few PTA highlights:
  • Financial and volunteer support for our amazing teachers and Amity interns
  • Programs like Flamenco, Fiesta Latina, and SITA with Seattle Opera performance and Visual Art with Adriana Morales
  • Events such as Field Day, Pumpkin Bash, Mariners/Seattle Storm Nights, upcoming kinder and 5th grade graduation.
  • PTA voting for generous literacy supports, and behavioral and SocioEmotional Learning resources
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion education, both within the curriculum and outside of class.
  • Fundraising to make this all possible: Walkathon, Book Fair, Moveathon with Leadership Classes, Rummage Sale, and personal donations.
We did all this AND moved school buildings this year—so we wish you all a well-deserved Summer break!
In August, start watching out for Back to School forms and announcements.

With gratitude, ¡Viva el español!
