HOT OFF THE PRESS
OC ENTERS RED TIER - BUSINESSES CAN REOPEN:*
  • OC has moved into the red tier and reopened multiple sectors of the economy. “I don’t see us going back to the purple tier, as long as we move forward with vaccines, because every one of those vaccines are 100% effective against hospitalization and death,” said Lucy Dunn, President and CEO, OCBC. “That’s been the benchmark for shutting down the economy, overwhelming a hospital system.” Under the new tier, large portions of OC can reopen including:
  • Amusement Parks – 15% capacity, CA residents only
  • Gym/Fitness Centers – 10% capacity
  • Movie Theatres – 25% capacity
  • Breweries – outdoors only
  • Restaurants – 25% capacity indoors
  • Schools – fully reopen at discretion of local school officials
  • Churches – 25% capacity indoors
  • Shopping Malls – 50% capacity indoors, closed common areas
  • BUT WE STILL NEED GUIDELINES FOR CONVENTION CENTERS AND MEETING SPACE! The hospitality industry can’t plan for reopening, read more.

And as of today, individuals with high-risk medical conditions or disabilities who are ages 16 to 64 are also eligible.

  • Recently, the CDC announced that people who are fully vaccinated may gather together in small groups indoors, without masks, and President Biden is directing all states to open vaccine availability to all adults no later than May 1.
