FRIDAY FIVE
‌
Greetings!
Welcome Malik Williams!
Welcome Malik Williams to the Heart of Virginia Council as our ScoutReach Executive. Malik hails from Richmond and has been part of the Scouting program for 10 years. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in 2016 and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 432 in Richmond, Virginia. He has volunteered for camp staff at T. Brady Saunders Summer and Winter Camp. Malik has also served in the United States Marine Corps. Give Malik a warm welcome!
Everyone should review the latest updates to the BSA’s national statement and recommendations concerning the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The updates feature an emphasis on using the adapted CDC guidance for the general public as the minimum guidelines for Scouting participants. This is in addition to any state and local regulations and council guidelines. Find information and links to multiple resources here.
Virtual Winter Camp #1 has ended. Let's get pumped for Camp 2! Registration for Virtual Winter Camp #2 is open until February 9th! These fun-filled and interactive merit badge sessions will be held on February 13, 14, and 15. The cost will be $5 to sign up, which includes a patch, and $15 for each merit badge selected. Over 20 merit badges will be offered so check in often. [Details]

Help us to prepare for our new building! Our Council has been donated office furniture for our new Service Center, but in order to accept it, we must pick it up on Wednesday, January 27th. We are looking for adult volunteers to arrive at our Service Center at 8:30 am on the 27th. Volunteers will carpool to the storage center to load the furniture into moving trucks and then travel to another location to unload the furniture. The project should last until 2 pm. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please contact Pat Dillon at Pat.Dillon@Scouting.org.
