JANUARY 2022
Each new year is a time of transition, reflection, fresh energy, and renewed spirit. As I reflect on 2021, it certainly was a very unpredictable and memorable year. We continued to experience an unprecedented global health crisis while facing economic uncertainty, supply chain and labor challenges, and TS Elsa. Through it all, City team members provided their best every day to deliver essential and enhanced services to the residents of Oldsmar. Oldsmar team members certainly showcased their resiliency, passion, patience, skills, and kindness.
As your new City Manager, I am thankful for former City Manager Al Braithwaite’s direction and mentorship. The City has certainly thrived during his tenure. I also would like to acknowledge and thank the City Council’s deliberate leadership. They have guided the City’s policies through it all, while continuing to focus on the City Council’s Priorities.
The City continues to make progress on important projects:
-
Downtown Redevelopment: While the City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance to amend the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to permit a density bonus/incentive in the Community Redevelopment District, the proposed amendment requires additional approvals from Forward Pinellas, the Pinellas County Board of Commissioners, and the State of Florida. The item will be heard at the Forward Pinellas Planners Advisory Committee (PAC) today with a public hearing at 1:30 pm. After consideration from the PAC, the item will proceed to the Forward Pinellas Board with a public hearing scheduled for January 12. If approved by Forward Pinellas, the item will be considered by the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners. For more information, please visit http://www.downtownoldsmar.com/.

BMX Supercross Track: There is significant progress at the Oldsmar Sports Complex, and we hope to have the track open this spring.
Happy New Year! Best wishes for peace and prosperity in 2022.
