Everyone Has A Story To Tell....

Kandee Lewis Introduces "A Story To Tell. I invite you to meet our #Thrivers

Meet 10 Thrivers who have overcome being victimized, hurt, or abused due to dating, domestic or intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or bullying. Their Truth is informative, transformative, life-saving, and healing.

"A Story to Tell" is an awareness project and PSA that speaks the truth about abuse from real people with real traumatic experiences who see themselves as survivors and thrivers!

We invite you to join us every Thursday for #ThriverThursday throughout the rest of this year as we introduce you to a new Thriver and their video.

Although all of our Thrivers are People of Color, we acknowledge that trauma and violence happens to everyone!

These are statistics that show the magnitude of violence:

Data from the CDC show that at least 38% of children have had at least one adverse childhood experience before 18, impacting children and families across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.

Every 9 seconds, a woman in the U.S.A is assaulted or beaten.

I in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year; 90% witness the violence.

1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime

43.8% of lesbian women / 26% of gay men and 61.1% of bisexual women / 37.3% of bisexual men have experienced rape, physical violence, and stalking by an intimate partner

Nearly half (47%) of Transgender respondents were sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime, and one in ten (10%) were sexually assaulted in the past year.

72% of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner; 94% of the victims are females

"A Story To Tell is part of PRC's "Healing Through Trauma" that provides safe spaces for participants to feel supported, connect in a non-judgmental and loving environment, and cultivate their leadership skills while exploring ways to impact their community positively," explained Kandee Lewis, executive director of the Positive Results Center. "

Positive Results Center received a two-year $100,000 ACES grant from Kaiser Permanente, the nation's largest integrated, nonprofit health care organization.

Trauma often manifests in situations and actions that hurt children by causing adverse childhood experiences, known as ACEs, which have harmful lifelong consequences for health and well-being.

Kaiser Permanente supports 13 organizations across the United States, including Positive Results Center, whose work focuses on ending the generational cycles of trauma caused by structural racism and injustice experienced by Black Americans and other communities of color.
