THE SEVEN PRAYER MOUNTAINS – LESSON 3
THE MEDIA – PART 2
MOUNTAIN
The “media mountain” has a profound affect on the thinking, feelings, and attitudes of the public. This has become a real problem as they are very biased.
The news media is dominated and controlled by people who have a very liberal (a/k/a “progressive”) point of view. Whatever they report always favors that view. There is no longer objectivity in reporting. The art of true journalism is dead: This applies to television news, newspapers, and radio news.
The biggest violators among newspapers includes the New York Times. The only newspaper of which I am aware that prints the unvarnished truth is the Epoch Times, a weekly paper.
The news organization that supplies nearly all newspapers is The Associated Press. All their news releases are literally slanted, and they never report the real facts behind their “attention getting” headlines. They supply “news” to the papers and radio and television.
Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others are just as bad. They had initially started out to be an open forum. That is no longer the case. They now are heavily into censorship. Conservative thought expressions are closely monitored and frequently censored. Anything that goes against the liberal mindset is viewed as bad and may be blocked out or deleted including entire subscriber accounts.
Who are the “good guys” in media? The Epoch Times is good, along with the media group in central Florida that publishes the News-Sun in Highlands County. They have several small papers from Ft. Myers to Tampa. On the Social Media Platform, Parler is getting rave reviews from conservatives as an alternative to the liberal Twitter.
When it comes to television, the worst of the worst is CNN, but NBC, CBS, and ABC are nearly as bad. Fox used to be reliable, but they are beginning to lean to the liberal left now also. The good one is Newsmax TV. The website of Newsmax is highly recommended.
The main problem lies in the professionals that run all of these media outlets and platforms. They have a secular world view that has been promoted in America since the Humanist Manifesto was introduced in 1933. Humanism denies God, claiming each person is their own god. This has had very heavy influence on our educational system from about 1970 until now.
We need young people with a Christian World view to enter all of the fields of journalism as a career. They will have an uphill battle, but over time they could make a difference for the good…if they persevere.
Here are some prayer points: Pray that:
1. People will become disgusted with biased reporting
2. The media moguls will return to true journalism
3. Christian young people will choose a journalism career
4. That Godly people will become producers, station owners, anchors, and reporters.
Intercessors, these are our prayer points for the Media Mountain. Let us move this mountain closer to godliness
