Bringing love home for over 40 years!
January/February 2022
Issue 96
From Our Director

Happy New Year CAS family!

I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for what 2022 will bring our way. As we enter our 43rd year of ministry and I personally close in on 6 years of leadership, I am continually amazed at God's provision, protection and guidance over this ministry. It truly is a
blessing to wake up each day and be a part of how God is using our team of 35 staff members to make an incredible impact through adoption. I always look forward to this first
newsletter of the year to share with you my reflections of God’s blessings from the past year. Here are the top five in no particular order:

Reflections for 2021:

I. Our merge with BCH has been a true blessing to CAS. I am so thankful that we are a part of an organization that is truly making a difference for all people – from babies to senior adults.

II. God has put together the best staff we have ever had. We truly have a unified team of 35 men and women who love Jesus and love serving Him through CAS.

III. Our dream of an after-care home for birth moms became a reality! We are so thankful for Emmanuel Home and for all those who have given to help us renovate this house. Emmanuel Home will open later this year in Thomasville, North Carolina.

IV. Adoptions are why we exist – I am thankful for the 30 babies who were placed in North and South Carolina in 2021, but I am really excited to see 10 children placed last year through our international program. That really is amazing considering we had zero international placements in 2020 due to covid. I'm excited to see where we go in 2022 with additional staff working on the international adoption front.

V. We now have 60 churches across the Carolinas that partner with CAS! I am so thankful to see the Lord connect us with so many great pastors and congregations who support us in so many ways throughout the year.

I look forward to all the Lord has in store for us in 2022 and what will make the reflection list for next year. For sure, no matter what lands on this list it will all be because of Him! Thank you for being a part of the journey with CAS/BCH, and I pray the Lord’s blessings upon you and your family this new year. May we serve Him faithfully one day at a time and thank Him that we get a front row seat to see Him work through the ministry of Christian Adoption Services. Happy New Year!

God bless!

Benefit Banquet in Rocky Mount
On November 4, 2021 the Rocky Mount banquet was held at the beautiful Rose Hill Estate. We had a lovely evening and heard an amazing story of adoption along with testimony from one of our CAS kids. We are grateful to the Boutin family and to Lucy Schoenling for sharing. Thanks also to those of you who attended and gave generously. Over $90,000 was donated - the largest amount received to date at an Eastern North Carolina event. These funds will have eternal impact in the lives of children placed with forever families.

Ministry Updates
International Adoption
Exciting things are happening! Please join us in rejoicing for some recent placements from the Philippines. Four children are now with their forever families.
We are happy to announce that beginning in January 2022, we will host a virtual monthly support group for birth mothers who have placed a child for adoption through CAS. For more information, please email Carla at charvin@bchfamily.org This is one more way that we want to show our love, concern and care to birth mothers who make the sacrificial plan of adoption.
Domestic Adoption
The Domestic Staff is in full planning mode for the upcoming annual birth mother's retreat. We are so excited to be celebrating our 25th year of honoring birth mothers with a retreat dedicated just for them! It will be held April 22-24, 2022 and provides a time of celebration and community for birth mothers who may otherwise feel alone in their decision to place for adoption, all at no cost to them. There is such significance found when we gather moms together in one place so they feel loved and supported long after placement. For more information about the retreat, contact Deanna by email at dmcferson@bchfamily.org. Please be in prayer for this special weekend and if you would like to financially support our efforts, you can do so by clicking here.
Attention all families who have adopted domestically: If you still send updates for your child's birth parent/s, please be sure to mark your packages with your name and your child's birth parent's names, if known. Also, please mark the packages to the attention of "Deanna" who has stepped into a newly created role at CAS as "Domestic Adoption Assistant''. Deanna manages all mediated contact between adoptive families and birth parents and has been such a blessing since joining our team in September!

Work progressing on the Emmanuel Home in Thomasville, NC
Emmanuel Home Update
On a blustery November morning, we watched in awe as Dr. Blackwell officially kicked off the renovation phase of the new Emmanuel Home with a celebration service! This ministry is going to be life altering for many birth mothers and we couldn’t be more excited or humbled that God has allowed us to be part of such an outreach. We were also blown away by the numerous supporters and churches who came out to get demolition started on this historic 1914 era home. These faithful partners were such powerhouses that we knocked out demo in two days!

The ‘Emmanuel Home’ will open in 2022 as a fully-staffed, care-house where birth mothers can live post-placement while they work through grief, learn coping mechanisms, explore life skills, work a job in the community, receive counseling, and further their education - all in the context of a nurturing Christian environment. This home, located in Thomasville, NC, will house up to five women for approximately ten months.
