Session #1: Behavior Exchange
Tuesday, March 16, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
Couples will learn the basic meaning of behavior exchange and why it is important in the maintenance of a healthy relationship. Couples will gain a better understanding of behavior exchange and expectations: who does what in the relationship so that everyone feels comfortable about who is taking on specific tasks.
Session #2: Problem Solving Skills
Tuesday, March 23, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
Couples will gain an understanding of why problem-solving skills are important in the maintenance of a healthy relationship. Couples will discuss with each other which problem-solving styles works best for their relationship. This session covers how each relationship handles conflict and disagreements. There is no right way to go about handling a disagreement, but it is important to come to an agreement on how problems are handled.
Session #3: Communication
Tuesday, March 30, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
Couples will gain an understanding in various of communication styles and how to apply them to their relationships. It is important for both individuals in a relationship to have the ability to openly express themselves. Couples should work toward having open communication to avoid resentment so that the relationship can be honest and truthful.
Session #4: Navigating Families
Tuesday, April 13, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
Couples will gain an understanding of what healthy boundaries are regarding families. Participants will explore their own personal boundaries with their partner’s families and identify positive and negative interactions between them. Couples will evaluate the boundaries that they have/have not set with family members and discuss possible boundaries to set.
Session #5: Intimacy
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
Participants will gain an understanding of what constitutes intimacy, as it may have many definitions based on certain perspectives. Couples will practice safely engaging in the level of intimacy agreed upon with their partner. All members in a relationship have expectations on what healthy intimacy should look like. It is important for each member to understand what the other wants and how to provide that for them without sacrificing their own comfort.
Session #6: Putting Theory into Practice
Tuesday, April 27, 2021 - 6:30-8:00 P.M.
It is important that couples and participants leave this session with a better understanding of what healthy relationship dynamics look like. By exploring the behavior exchange, communication, problem solving skills, and intimacy within their relationship, couples will move forward with the tools to create and foster successful relationships.
