New Executive Director Selected

Annie Marcklinger Gordon began her tenure as the CAC's Executive Director on June 8. She will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CAC while upholding our mission of ensuring safety, healing and justice for children and families impacted by violence, exploitation and abuse.

Join the CAC Team

The CAC is seeking two bilingual Family Advocates. Our Family Advocates offer education, support, advocacy and referrals for necessary services in order to help children and families heal after violence and abuse.

One of these Family Advocates will be bilingual in English and Spanish. Preferred languages for the second position are Haitian Creole, Chinese, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole.

Inside the CAC

May Highlight

CAC staff joined over 300 child advocacy professionals from across the state at the 13th Annual Massachusetts Children's Alliance Conference.

Suffolk CAC Associate Director Beth Bouchard and SEEN Program Manager Sheelah Gobar shared their expertise during a presentation on the Multidisciplinary Team approach to serving high-risk missing and exploited youth. And our Director of Mental Health & Advocacy Catalina Perez was part of a panel discussion on Problematic Sexual Behavior in Massachusetts.

In addition to the educational presentations, former CAC Executive Director Susan Goldfarb received the "One with Courage" Award in recognition of her 30-years of advocacy for children and families.

Staff Spotlight

Alex Spurlock, MSW, LICSW has been providing compassionate care to children as a CAC Mental Health Clinician since March 2021.

She specializes in Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) and Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) for those impacted by trauma.

Alex has dedicated her career to caring for children and families. Prior to joining the CAC, Alex worked as a Child and Family Clinician at The Home for Little Wanderers’ Preschool Outreach Program and as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator with North Suffolk Mental Health Association.

Community Connections

We recently participated in the Community Partner Showcase at the Boston Public Schools Wellness Summit. The event brought together 100+ BPS staff, principals, and central office leaders to celebrate wellness policy implementation successes at schools. The Showcase was an opportunity for attendees to learn more about how community organizations like the CAC can work with schools to promote student health and wellbeing.
