  • Last night, PBS NewsHour did a segment on grandparents raising children for a second time and how they're impacted by the pandemic. The piece featured our GRAND Voice Joanne Clough along with Carter, her granddaughter whom she is raising. Generations United Virtual Conference—Awards Nominations
Generations United will be presenting several awards honoring outstanding individuals, programs, and best practices in the intergenerational field during the Generations United 21st Global Intergenerational Conference, which is being held virtually June 15-17, 2021. Nominate someone for the Generations United Intergenerational Innovation Award, Grandfamilies Award, and the Brabazon Award for Evaluation Research. Tele-Stories

This program, which launched in 2020, invited older adults into creative and engaging conversations from the comfort of their own homes. Building from the concept of “well check calls” which are meant to address basic physical needs, Tele-Stories tends to social and emotional wellbeing by using creativity to forge connections and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
NEW! Innovative and Exemplary Respite Services for National Recognition. The ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center are accepting applications from programs that may have creatively redefined their respite services to meet family caregivers' current and evolving needs for support and social connections, or modified their respite services, eligibility, or location to enhance respite service flexibility and access in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. RRF Foundation for Aging—which has awarded over 5,000 grants of more than $255 million—is accepting proposal applications for its next grant cycle in their priority areas: caregiving, economic security in later life, housing, social and intergenerational connectedness. The Foundation will also remain open to considering compelling applications on other topics. Deadline: May 1, 2021. Learn more.

NEA Research Labs funds transdisciplinary research teams grounded in the social and behavioral sciences, yielding empirical insights about the arts for the benefit of arts and non-arts sectors alike. Matching/cost share cooperative agreements of up to $150,000 will be awarded. Deadline: March 8, 2021. Learn more.

The Upswing Fund for Adolescent Mental Health is a collaborative fund focusing on the mental health and well-being of adolescents who are of color and/or LGBTQ+. Created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a devastating impact on young people across the United States, The Upswing Fund will provide critical resources to front-line organizations that provide the services that young people rely on. Learn more about their fall grant opportunity which opened October 20th.

Interactive Toolkit: Connecting Generations in Senior Housing. This toolkit, developed by Generations United and the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston with funding from RRF Foundation for Aging, is now a website with downloadable resources. The Virtual Facilitation Learning Lab. Dr. Corita Brown and former Encore colleague Karimah Nonyameko are offering a learning lab where facilitators can share best practices, experiments, and challenges in designing and facilitating meaningful, connective, participatory, and inclusive online spaces. National Civil Rights Museum Hosts 'A Conversation with Ruby Bridges and Chelsea Clinton'. This one-hour virtual dialogue between two education advocates and authors will focus on the intersection of race, class, gender and generations.
