As 2020 comes to an end, we mustn’t forget how it began.
It was the year of new beginnings, and a new decade,
Where resolutions of travel, diet, and ambitions were made.
We toasted 2020 with parties and champagne,
Our newly made resolutions would not be in vain.
Then Winter ended and eased into Spring,
Only to find us all scurrying for toilet paper and things.
Simple necessities we take for granted every day,
Were now the most coveted items on Amazon and Ebay.
With our travel plans halted we researched online,
What would be our first vacation when it was finally time?
Houmas House heard you out there - we heard loud and clear,
We got in the kitchen and whipped up some cheer.
You welcomed our chef into your newsfeed each week,
And watched as we told you about our special techniques.
Then in the gardens, which are open and airy,
We planted new florals which accent the statuaries.
We are thankful for those who visited and kept our spirits high,
And look forward to more returning when traveling nearby.
So as we approach this new year, we don’t look back with regret,
We simply appreciate what we’ve learned and know what to do next.
Houmas House will always be open when you are ready to come back,
And we’ll pick up where we left off and start 2021 right on track.
